Lewis Hamilton will race for his fifth victory at the Hungaroring.

Formula One turns up in Hungary this weekend, to conclude a sad week that saw the funeral of Jules Bianchi. The 25-year-old French driver died last week from the injuries he sustained in the Japanese Grand Prix last October. He is the first driver to die from injuries suffered in a F1 Grand Prix since Ayrton Senna, who passed away in 2014. Drivers and teams will remember Bianchi with a minute of silence before the start of the race on Sunday.

• Hamilton to dominate in Hungary
• F1 bids farewell to Bianchi
• Mercedes goes for a record

The Hungarian Grand Prix is the last race in the Formula One calendar before the one-month-long summer break. Though it would be important for every driver and team to escape the business temporarily in good mood, it is hard to see that anyone can seriously challenge the Mercedes drivers, as anyone who bet on sports in the UK could guess. Tyre allocations might suit Ferrari, but this should only enable Scuderia to beat Williams.

Last year’s Hungarian GP turned a little nasty for the two Mercedes drivers

Mercedes is on the verge to reach a unique record in Formula One. Never happened before that a team completed 10 consecutive races with two drivers on the podium, but it is now quite likely, seeing the dominance of Mercedes this year. Hamilton is 1.08 (1/12) favourite to register another podium finish according to Bet365 Sportsbook, with his teammate Nico Rosberg being available at 1.10 (1/10) in the same market.

Still, the tricky Hungaroring can always fool the field and all those who wager on the race at online sportsbooks in the UK. Mercedes also ruled the field last year, however the Hungarian Grand Prix saw Daniel Ricciardo winning his second race for Red Bull. This outcome would generate a huge profit this year at any online betting site, as the Milton Keynes-based team is far from the leaders due to the 2015 aero regulations.

Since Mercedes possesses the best aero package in the business currently, they are the natural favourites to win the Hungarian Grand Prix. Hamilton is the ultimate Hungaroring expert in the pack. He has four victories in Hungary, which is a record he holds together with Michael Schumacher. The way he dominates the field this year suggests another – possibly cheap, plastic – trophy for him. That is priced at 1.44 (4/9) by Bet365 Sportsbook, and the same goes for his pole position. Nico Rosberg is top underdog to win the Hungarian Grand Prix with odds of 3.25 (9/4).

Tricky circuit, tricky weather

Hungaroring 2015 Hungarian GP

This track presents entirely different challenges to teams and drivers alike

Tyre allocation is a factor that will suit Ferrari this weekend. Pirelli brought the soft and medium compounds to Hungary, the same supply that was delivered to Bahrain earlier this year. Ferrari was strong there and Kimi Raikkonen came very close to victory in Sakhir, finishing second eventually. Though it won’t be that hot in Hungary on Sunday, Ferrari could expect another good result after Sebastian Vettel topped the Mercedes cars in Silverstone three weeks ago. Sebastian Vettel is third favourite to win the Hungarian Grand Prix at Bet365 with odds of 13.00 (12/1). His journey to third place is expected to be an easy one as his podium finish is priced at 1.36 (4/11).

Engine power is not really a factor at the Hungaroring. The 4.3 kilometres (2.7 miles) track has only one proper straight – it was a challenge actually to fit in a second DRS zone – and is full of slow-speed corners. Regarding that, McLaren can hope for one of the best races in a year, when they continue run with turned down Honda engines. Still, the two McLaren drivers are favorites to retire first from the Hungarian Grand Prix. Both Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button is available at 7.00 (6/1) in the 1st driver retirement market at Bet365 Sportsbook.

According to weather forecast, both Saturday and Sunday should be sunny, however the race day is expected to be significantly cooler. That means lower track temperatures as well, which could influence car performance and tire degradation considerably. Regarding this, no one who placed a wager using a mobile betting service should be surprised, if a certain car’s performance improvea vastly overnight.
