When online horse betting Singapore, Hong Kong or even the bright lights of Ireland can all be but at your fingertips and yet it is still the big name races that draw in the punters both in the physical world and in the digital netherspace of the interweb, so this weekend you can bet on the Haydock Sprint Cup being the race on everyone's lips and betting slips, but just who should you be backing to win this fabulous race that has seen so many great winners over the years?

Haydock Sprint Cup
  • Quiet Reflection – 4/1
  • Limato – 9/2
  • The Tin Man – 6/1
  • Twilight Son – 7/1
  • Dancing Star – 7/1
  • Magical Memory – 7/1
Originally established by the heir to the Vernons Pools business back in 1966 the Haydock Sprint Cup used to roll around in November, be open to 2 year olds and was run over a course that rather famously included a hugely tight left hander that saw what we shall term “very exciting racing”. These days the course is a straight flat blaze over six furlongs for anything three-years-old and you can bet on the Haydock Sprint Cup to produce great winners like Lester Piggot and Willie Carson from the 70s & 80s.

Since 1979 the race has been held in early September and so it is this weekend that we'll see the crowds descend on Haydock Park to take advantage of liberal UK gambling laws and have a bit of a flutter on this drag race of a horse race. But with rather eclectic nineteen horse strong field on the race card which name should you plump for if you bet on the Haydock Sprint Cup at Bet365 on Saturday? Do you go for the favorite or try to get a little better of the odds with an each-way bet on a horse with longer odds?

The Weekend's Big Race Is At Haydock Park

Well the favorite bet on the Haydock Sprint Cup is “Quiet Reflection” at a mild 4/1 from Bet365, but with “Limato” at just 9/2 the head of the field is quite tight, and “The Tin Man” has closed up to 6/1 just ahead of “Twilight Son”, “Dancing Star” and “Magical Memory” all on 7/1 however whilst they're probably all nice on the nose wagers if you like to bet on sports in the UK you may want to consider some of the each way bets this race offers as having a little more action and opportunity to them.

The 14/1 that “Suedois” is garnering might not sound all that attractive, but “Donjuan Triumphant”, “Kachy” and “Gordon Lord Byron” (all sat at 20/1 thus far) are good bets at the 1/5 being offered on a place wager at Bet365, and for the more adventurous there's “Strath Burn”, “Mr Lupton” and “Sole Power” on 25/1, and for those who know something the rest of us don't there's “Mehronissa”, “Goken” and “Divine” all a rather more risky bet on the Haydock Sprint Cup getting a distinctly long 33/1.

Bet365 Has All The Odds To Bet On The Haydock Sprint Cup

Naturally there are some real long shots to play with if you bet on the Haydock Sprint Cup, and if you're one of those gamblers that has a feeling in their water, an itch in their hair, an ache of the limb at the sound of some names perhaps these will trigger that need to place a bet on something with odds longer than your arm. “Only Mine” (perhaps so called because you could be the only person betting on it) is at 40/1 alongside the rather bizarrely named “Ajaya” which is probably Spanish slang for something ghastly.

  • Suedois – 14/1
  • Donjuan Triumphant – 20/1
  • Kachy – 20/1
  • Gordan Lord Byron – 20/1
  • Strath Burn – 25/1
  • Mr. Lupton – 25/1
This leaves those with no sense whatsoever to back “Janes Memory” who, judging from the odds of their winning at Bet365, might not even remember where the race is taking place, however if you're desperate for a 66/1 longshot bet on the Haydock Sprint Cup, that's the horse for you. Of course if you're actually in the UK gambling news on Sunday will be of “Janes Memory” winning, you're probably in need of a little more (professional) help than just some racing tips for the weekend.
