Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah is enjoying the best form of his career at the moment according to online sportsbook news, so it’s no surprise questions are arising whether the Reds can reach the latter stages of Europe’s elite competition – the Champions League.

Clear goals in sight for Salah, no matter the competition

Asked whether the Champions League is more important than the Premier League to him, Salah responded that all the competitions that Liverpool is playing in are equally important and that the team gives their all regardless what trophy they’re fighting for.

“I have already commented that in football anything can happen,” said the 25-year-old. “We will try to work hard in each match and win it. I am very excited about the next games. There is no extra pressure (against Porto) because for us every game is important – the Premier League, cups, Champions League.”

Salah has been a revelation since joining Liverpool from AS Roma last summer in a €42m initial deal, with another €8m set to be paid in performance-related bonuses. In 26 Premier League outings, the Egyptian international has bagged 22 goals, while overall his tally stands at 29 goals in 35 games so far – these are incredible stats considering his original position is that of an attacking midfielder, so it’s not directly part of his duties to score goals.

Can the Reds win the Champions League this season?

With the Premier League practically within Man City’s reach, the only other serious competition lies on the continent. So the question is will Salah be the main man to lead Liverpool to glory in the Champions League, or will they succumb to pressure as they prepare to take on Porto. But the good news is that experience is not a problem for him, having played in the Europa League and the Champions League for former clubs Fiorentina and AS Roma respectively.

For the upcoming game at Estadio do Dragao, Liverpool have been branded as the better side thanks to their deep squad and performances in the group stage that saw them finish top of Group E with 12 points – 3 points above second-placed Sevilla. Bet365 Sportsbook gives the reds odds of 13/10 (2.30), while a draw between them and the Portuguese side stands at 12/5 (3.40). Porto, despite being the hosts for the match, have been assigned underdog chances of 2/1 (3.00).

Although the odds for a draw seems like a good bet, we’re going to back Liverpool for this one, but we’re willing to bet that it will be a tough match with Jurgen Klopp’s men managing just a slim victory over their upcoming opponents.

If you’re curious to know, Bet365 Sportsbook is ranking Liverpool as the 7th favourite to win the Champions League outright 14/1 (15.00) this season. Man City is still viewed as the ultimate team to win outright 10/3 (4.33), per online sportsbooks in UK.
