Brooklyn Hosts ePrix Betting On Better Background For TV

eprix betting ePrix - New York - 2017
It's probably fair to say ePrix betting is still quite novel, this is, after all, only the third year the grown-up Scalextric cars have run a full season, and it hasn't been made any more attractive a proposition by the dominance of Sebastien Buemi however as the season enters the penultimate round in New York this weekend will the larger than life backdrop win over more fans across the Atlantic for this, the future of racing?

Felix Rosenqvist

The flexibility of an ePrix is that with such low noise and air pollution profiles they can be held just about anywhere you've tarmac. They've sped around London, zipped about Moscow and blasted through Berlin, but this weekend the electric racers are off to New York and will find themselves burning rubber around Brooklyn on a street circuit in Red Hook, the powers that be behind ePrix betting there is no skyline in the world as recognizable or iconic as will backdrop the races this round.

With television coverage producers insisting on interesting pictures to give their continuity shots something to play with during their endless montages of statistics that would baffle even an expert who bet on sports in the US every week, events have to promise iconic shots, and I'd wager a good dollars at Bet365 that few cities can even hope to match the Statue of Liberty and Lower Manhattan. Just a shame that to get those pictures the race has to be held opposite them, in equally iconic surroundings.

Brooklyn Docks Host New York ePrix This Weekend

New York ePrix
  • 15th/16th July 2017
  • Races 9 & 10
  • Brooklyn Street Circuit
  • Location – Red Hook
  • Length – 1.21 miles
  • Turns - 13
I've not been to Red Hook, and after a careful perusal on Google Earth and Street View I'm not much in favor of changing that status. It looks like every location shoot for the Sopranos or Rescue Me. Holding an ePrix in Red Hook is like staging a ski jumping competition in the Netherlands. Sure. You can do it, but why on earth would you want to? Brooklyn might have the right name and view but it sure doesn't look like the nicest place to do some ePrix betting with much of it resembling On The Waterfront.

Sebastien Buemi

This year the cars have raced around the perfection of Paris and the magnificence of Monaco, through the beauty of Buenos Aires and the highlights of Hong Kong, and now they're off to somewhere that appears far more where one might go to steal cars than to race them with an industrial vibe that might not attract many spectators. The ePrix might not make US gambling news headlines but I've a feeling attending the ePrix betting it'll be better than on television will be a disappointment of headline hitting proportions.

ePrix Betting Odds Available At Bet365

ePrix Championship
  • Felix Rosenqvist – 200/1
  • Lucas Di Grassi – 5/2
  • Sebastien Buemi – 2/7
Beyond the issues with the location having been chosen for it's visuals the actual course is a 1.21 mile street circuit with 13 turns and a couple of very tasty straights where the aerodynamics of these futuristic looking electric powered racers can come into their own. Formula E might have a long way to go but this weekend alongside Pier 11 they'll do doing so at quite a speed and that sudden turn might make ePrix betting just that little bit more interesting at Bet365. Especially as Buemi isn't there.

Lucas Di Grassi

The championship leader has World Endurance Championship commitments and is replaced at Renault e.Dams by Pierre Gasly. This means that the star of the show is missing and whilst he's away the rest of the pack will be trying to take full advantage of his absence so if you are going to take advantage of US gambling laws and do some ePrix betting just be sure to back Lucas Di Grasse who is going to be all over the Brooklyn circuit like a bad rash the mathematics just making him pipping Buemi a distant possibility.
