Danish Gambling Laws - GamingZion
As if online gambling laws all over the world weren’t complicated enough, they’re further mixed up by the fact that some countries consider different types of gambling to be games of chance and games of skill. Denmark is one such country.

According to Danish gambling law , games of skill are only permitted in casinos within the country’s borders. All games of chance are controlled by the Dansk Spil, a company which is 80% controlled by the government.

Online gambling in Denmark is legal and quite popular, but subject to the same rules that can be found on land. As a result, all sites are regulated through the same company, Dansk Spil.

This, however, may change in the near future. The government has realized that, though it lets its citizens play at online casinos in Denmark, millions of Euros are still flying out the window to offshore online gambling companies.

In an effort to funnel the money back to the homeland, the Danish government, amoung the governments of other nations, is considering legalizing online gambling through offshore accounts as well.

If this motion goes through, then online gambling companies which qualify, will be required to buy a gambling license in Denmark, provided that they wish to offer there services there.

Offshore gambling companies in Europe are estimated to be making a very large percentage of what is thought to be an €8.3 million dollar market. If countries like Denmark decide to open the market up a bit but continue to regulate, this is likely to change.
