Isle of Man-based pari-mutuel company European Wagering Services (EWS) is confident that American gambling laws will soon be liberalized. How confident are they? Confident enough to buy up the Nevada-based online betting website Watch And Wager for $100,000.

Watch and Wager is licensed by the state of North Dakota Racing Commission, but is allowed to offer online services only in Nevada, where such gambling is legal. As a perk in the agreement, EWS will be able to extend the North Dakota license to EWS’ other website Link2Bet.

EWS pari-mutuel operations director Ed Comins hinted at future prospects when he explained that “An ‘on the ground’ US gaming license and business operation also provides EWS with a significant first mover advantage in the US on-line betting and gaming marketplace.”

Again, note that these sectors are currently in a legal gray area in the ‘States, making the Watch And Wager acquisition definitely one built for the future – a future in which Internet sportsbooks and online casinos in the United States.
