Reports are beginning to surface that FanDuel will soon offer daily fantasy golf ahead of their merger with fellow industry-leader DraftKings.

Just a day ago, Yahoo Finance reported that one of the most popular online daily fantasy sports in the US, FanDuel will soon offer their customers daily fantasy golf. Golf will be the first sport that FanDuel has added to their site in nearly three years.

Back in 2014, FanDuel CEO Nigel Eccles stated he had no intention of adding daily fantasy golf for money to their site, as the legal situation was trickier than with other sports. He seems to have changed his mind, and players will soon be able to play online fantasy golf through their site.

Once the merge with DraftKings is complete, Eccles will serve as a chairman, while current DraftKings CEO Jason Robins will take his new role as CEO of the newly merged company. Analysts are not yet sure whether this merger will significantly expand their player base.

What other fantasy sports does FanDuel offer?

FanDuel has emerged as one of, if not the biggest and best DFS site in the US. They offer a wide range of great fantasy sport options. Daily fantasy NBA and football are without a doubt the most profitable sports for the company, although more sports like ice hockey and MMA have also grown in recent years.

Nigel Eccles mentioned offering daily fantasy golf back in 2015, but was hesitant due to their hold on the most popular sport markets. “When we looked at our data, we said, you know what, 80% of our revenue comes from NBA and football; it’s more important that we go deep there,” he continued, “If [DraftKings] have 100% market share of a sport that only has 1% of the total market, hey, okay. I’d rather have 80% market share of 80% of the market.”
