The Senate’s Regulated Industries and Utilities Committee rescheduled the hearing of Senate Bill 79, that would pave the way for legal casino gambling in Georgia.

UPDATE:
Georgia Casino Bill Dies in Committee

Senator Brandon Beach asked for SB 79 to be on the agenda Monday instead of Thursday so he can have “more time to shore up the votes.” The bill would allow for two casino resorts to be built in Georgia, following the introduction of an amendment to the Official Code. “The devil’s in the details and we had to have the details in that not only in the enabling legislation, but in the Constitutional Amendment for everybody to feel comfortable voting yes,” said Beach, who’s positive that once the bill is out of the committee it will gain more ground. According to US gambling news, if the bill passes the committee it will need the approval of the General Assembly and signed into law by Governor Nathan Deal. Still, the law must be approved by citizen on statewide and local referendums.
