Odds On The 2017 Breeders Cup Close Up At The Last

Alongside The Belmont Stakes, The Kentucky Derby, and The Preakness Stakes (often known as the Triple Crown of US horse racing) the Breeders Cup Classic is seen as one of the most important races of the year and coming on the heels of Halloween, and this year at the Del Mar racetrack you can expect a massive atmosphere especially with the odds on the 2017 Breeders Cup so close at BetVictor and if you like to bet on sports in the US, this is the race for you. Arrogate won the Breeders Cup Classic last year, and earlier this year took victories in both The Pegasus World Cup and the Dubai World Cup, and is likely to make a good run at this year's race and Bob Baffert is surely optimistic of his chances, however lets not forget that Collected pushed Arrogate into second place in the Pacific Classic and is also running this time round at Del Mar, and whilst the odds on the 2017 Breeders Cup favor Arrogate, they did on August 19th too, and Gun Runner wasn't around.   Gun Runner is the Steven Asmussen trained horse that came second in the Dubai World Cup, just behind Arrogate, but has taken some good wins over the right distances more recently than Baffert's horse at the Woodward at Saratoga for instance, or the Whitney Handicap, and the odds on the 2017 Breeders Cup at BetVictor etc just slightly favor it with 7/4 odds, Arrogate just a whisker behind at 9/4 at bookies who bother to differentiate between the chances these two enjoy of winning the race.  

Can Arrogate Win The Breeders Cup For The Second Year In A Row?

Collected gets 6/1 odd on the 2017 Breeders Cup at BetVictor which is just a tad behind another of the great wagers available, and well worth taking advantage of US gambling laws to place, the 5/1 available on West Coast, and whilst Collected has won the Precisionist Stakes, Californian Stakes and Santana Mile this year, West Coast hasn't lost since March, with the Los Alamitos Derby, Travers Stakes and Pennsylvania Derby all going it's way. But can it beat out those two favorites? Probably not.   That means that sensibly an each way wager on these two horses would be sensible, however the temptation then becomes to instead go each way on the 14/1 chance at BetVictor, Churchill, whose performance in the latter part of this year as been awfully disappointing but could well turn on the same speed that saw it win the English and Irish 2000 Guineas back to back in May. At those odds, and over this distance you'd have to mad not to punt a little on this one, especially if the top four distract each other.

Obviously there are other nags on the track, but you'd have to be quite the optimist to back Mubtaahij at 25/1 despite it's recent victory in the Awesome Again Stakes at the end of last month. War Decree gets 33/1 the same as Gunnevera and Cupid, and Pavel gets 50/1 in the odds on the 2017 Breeders Cup available at BetVictor although it coming even in the top three would make US gambling news headlines for a few weeks so unlikely is it to happen, and then there are the true outsiders of the race.   Win The Space and War Story both get the same odds on the 2017 Breeders Cup, 100/1 at BetVictor, and frankly that's being a little generous, not because they're bad rides, and indeed both show a fair degree of talent, but up against a field like this at Del Mar neither one has a hope in North Korea of actually winning, or even placing if we're honest and anyway who'll care as every eye is on Arrogate and it's chances of seeing off Gun Runner and winning the Breeders Cup Classic twice on the bounce.
