Blackjack, slot machines and the match between Mayweather and Pacquiao made for most of Nevada’s May revenue.

According to Calvinayre, Nevada’s gambling revenue in Maywas really something: it hit (and passed) the USD 1 billion milestone. Gambling news reported that a large part of this extra colossal income was due to the fact that visitors raided Las Vegas for the match between Mayweather and Pacquiao.

Tourists also went to Vegas for the Rock In Rio music festival, which also gave income a huge boost. This huge revenue for May, however, is still a small drop in the ocean. According to the Nevada Gaming Control Board, if we look at the fiscal year to date, revenues are still down by 1%.

Blackjack is the new superstar

Baccarat revenues went down, but Blackjack income rose by a nice percentage: 27.4%. This means that during the last month, overall Blackjack income was at USD 122.7 million. Poker earnings, counting the two online poker sites in the US state, rose by a bit less than one percent.

The most significant change could be seen in the rise of sportsbooks revenue thanks to the Mayweather/Pacquiao match. The overall increase was a whopping 73.3%, almost USD 20 million. Baseball also gave a handsome contribution to last month’s revenues.
