According to the recent United States gambling news the state of Pennsylvania has seen a whopping 7.44 percent rise in the amount of revenue generated from the slot machines in January 2012.

The total amount of revenue generated from all ten of casinos situated throughout the North Eastern state, generated $190,517,560 in the month of January 2012 alone, well above the $177,317,920 generated in the same month, last year.

The statistics, released by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, show that in the past year, eleven of the twelve months have seen growth in revenue, with only one month falling short of expectations.

The ten operating casinos in Pennsylvania together generate between $30 million and $10 million every month. The biggest surprise of January was the astronomical 54.10 percent increase in revenue of SugarHouse Casino who took $15.5 million, whilst the only casino to fall behind in revenue for January 2012, was Harrah's Chester Casino and Racetrack, down 6.81 percent, though still generating $20.1 million.

With over 26,250 slot machines in operation this January, down by nearly 600 machines from the previous year, one can hardly attribute the rise in revenue generated by the casinos on additional machines. Instead, something else must be the cause for the rise, which sees the commonwealth pull out a staggering $3.3 million of tax revenue a day.

Some people believe it is down to recession, and that people are more likely to throw “additional” cash into machines in hope of winning a way out of the depression. Others believe that with the possibility of the American gambling laws changing, the casinos will be full of gamers, and their chances of success will become less and less.

Whatever the reason for the sudden burst of revenue generated from the ten casinos, the message couldn't be any clearer. Casino gambling in Pennsylvania is a big business, as the statistics from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board show.

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board was founded in 2004 and oversees every aspect of Pennsylvania's casino industry, race betting and betting on sports in United States, and includes the ten casinos in the state.
