The former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is now recovering in intensive care following immediate surgery required for the brain haemorrhage he suffered on Saturday, online sportsbook news report.

The type of brain haemorrhage still unknown at this stage

Ferguson’s former club Manchester United – for whom he still performs ambassadorial duties numerous times annually – issued a statement indicating that the procedure has gone well and that the 76-year-old legend is recuperating at the moment. The family have expressed their desire for privacy in dealing with this matter, as Ferguson’s recovery optimises after the surgery.

Chris Chandler, a consultant neurosurgeon at King’s College London, has said that currently they can’t know the cause of the brain haemorrhage of what type it actually is, with there being many variations of cerebral bleed. But he also gave assurances that the good news is that the doctors who operated on Ferguson achieved their aim in helping him – this could have been a case of blood cloth and they were able to remove successfully in that event.

“The surgery going well means the surgeons have achieved what they set out to achieve,” Chandler commented. “If he had blood clot, it means that blood clot has been removed successfully and the patient is now in intensive care.”

“We don’t know exactly what kind of brain haemorrhage he had. There are many different kinds, all of which have vastly different outcomes for the patient. We have to now wait for more information before anybody can say what the outcome is likely to be.”

Manchester United are missing Ferguson sorely

Sir Alex Ferguson has spent 27 years with the Old Trafford side, winning a stunning 13 Premier League titles and 2 Champions Leagues among lots of other accolades, before retiring from his post after the title-winning campaign of 2012/13.

Since then Manchester United fans have not tasted Premier League success – they’re on their third manager since Ferguson’s retirement – while their cross-town rivals Man City have clinched two crowns since 2013. More importantly, in the meantime the Etihad side have become a serious club that can challenge for the greatest of trophies, while the Red Devils have had to settle for second-rate silverware – like in the case of winning the Europa League last season.

After Pep Guardiola’s Man City won the league this season in remarkable fashion, Man United are on course to finish second in the Premier League this season, per online sportsbook in UK. And the bad thing is that for next season, Man City are again the favourites to defend their Premier League crown with odds of 33/50 (1.66), while Liverpool are second in line to lift the title 5/1 (6.00) outright 2018/19. Man United are third on the odds list 6/1 (7.00), so we’re afraid they will stretch the barren run in the Premier League to six years. It’s easy to see why the Old Trafford support sorely miss the presence of Sir Alex Ferguson on the touchline.
