The release of the Slovak online gambling blacklist is scheduled for July 17th. According to the Ministry of Finance, the list will be updated on a weekly basis.

The gambling days are over in Slovakia as the country’s Ministry of Finance is preparing to crack down on unlicensed gambling sites and by means of a blacklist. According to Slovak gambling news, the monitoring started on July 1st and the list is set to be released on July 17th. “The global gambling market has developed dynamically in recent years. Legislation has reacted to an expansion of gambling in virtual space and has brought new challenges in terms of supervision,” commented Radko Kuruc, Secretary of Finance Ministry.

Slovak gambling laws were amended last year in favor of TIPOS, the national lottery and betting operator. Foreign betting companies must acquire a license in order to operate in the country, and they have to pay 27% tax on their revenues made in Slovakia. Numerous online betting sites have already ceased their services in Slovakia. Unlicensed operators can be fined for €500,000.
