Sweet 16 Highlights from the South and the West

Sweet 16 highlights of the South and West Regions of the NCAA Tournament were fast, furious and demonstrated why many believe March Madness is really America’s National Sport.

• Villanova and Kansas easily won their games and advance
• Oregon took out 5-time champions Duke 82-68
• Oklahoma had a big lead against Texas A&M and kept them at bay

The action was fierce as the beloved Sweet 16 played out. Punters mobile betting may have made some money gambling in the South region. Kansas, Maryland, Miami and Villanova were straight arrows mostly. The odds went with the top seeds and were pretty straight bets. Oregon, Duke, Texas and Oklahoma didn’t prove any more surprising.

Louisville, Kentucky did their annual part in the Big Dance. It was there Kansas University went up against University of Maryland. University of Miami took on Villanova. Anahheim, California hosted University of Oregon versus perennial favorites Duke. Texas A&M had it out with Oklahoma. Let’s look at the Sweet Sixteen highlights and how it went down in the South.

University of Kansas vs. University of Maryland

The University of Kansas was considered by many as the team to take it all. The Jayhawks were forced to demonstrate this against Maryland. These Terrapins were one of the best Maryland teams in years. Some bracketologists believed they were more talented than Kansas.

Sweet 16 highlights were revealing, but not surprising. The veteran Kansas team proved dominant. Maryland Coach Mark Turgeon chose a man-to-man defense. The Terrapins were unable to match up with Kansas. Jayhawk Senior forward Perry Ellis, with 19 points, outplayed everybody in his path. The two-man combo with Junior guard Wayne Seldon Jr. helped Kansas defeat Maryland 79-63.

University of Miami vs. Villanova

Villanova had the hot hat hand going into this game. The Wildcats may have received a contested number two seed. You wouldn’t have known it from how they played. The Wildcats were dominant in the first half. Their official bad ass Kris Jenkins and the Ukranian Ryan Arcidiancono shot with mastery.
The Miami Hurricanes didn’t make it interesting until the second half. With their deep cut into the Wildcat lead, Villanova came back. What looked like a possible win for Miami became a fantasy. Pushing to a 20-point lead over Miami, the Wildcats didn’t look back as they won 92-69.

University of Oregon vs. Duke

Duke University’s consistent wins have always been a punters love. Now those who bet on sports in the US have a new challenge. Duke was the underdog. Oregon had 16-2 and 12-6 odds in their last 18 games. The 3-point favorites by OddShark.com left no doubt of their supremacy over Duke.

Last year’s champions, Duke got a forth bid. The injury and weary Blue Devils were easy targets for Oregon. The Ducks dominated the 5-time national champions. Coach Krzyzewski never got his team within 7 points of Oregon. Outplayed in every way, the Ducks overpowered Duke 82-68.

Texas A&M vs. Oklahoma

The Oklahoma Sooner made it to the Sweet 16 last year. Texas A&M missed the Big Dance the last four years straight. The slaughter began with a 19-point lead at halftime. The Aggies had come from behind in their last two games, but not again. In the second half, the Texas A&M Aggies never came close.

Tyler Davis of the Aggie did all he could but couldn’t match up to Jordan Woodward and Buddy Hield. Together they scored 44 points. With ease Oklahoma won by 14 points. Their 77-63 victory easily covered their odds. Any internet betting for the Sooner made a few easy bucks.
