The East Midlands Derby between Derby County and Nottingham forest will kick off this weekend of rivalries in Europe on Saturday. Derby della Mole between Torino and Juventus will wrap up the weekend’s derby action for anyone who bet on sports in the EU. If you are interested in the Dundee Derby, see our separate article covering the event. Now let’s check out the best Euro derby odds for this weekend!

The BET on Derby v Nottingham odds

The East Midlands Derby or the Brian Clough Trophy game is one of the coolest rivalry games in Britain. If you don’t remember, Brian Clough, the greatest manager that England never had, a true crusader of possession football, brought up both Derby County and Nottingham Forest from the Second Division to win the First Division (the English top-tier back then) in the seventies with his sidekick, Peter Taylor. They also won the European Cup/Champions League twice, making Nottingham Forest the only team that won a league title only once but doing the double in Europe. To carry out all this with a provincial side like Forest is one of the greatest achievements in the history of football.

Those times are long gone but this one is still an interesting rivalry game. Derby County are fighting for promotion while Forest are stuck in the middle of the Championship table, sacking their manager Dougie Freedman last week. Former Derby player Paul Williams were named as caretaker manager for now. Accordingly, the hosts are favourites at online sportsbooks in the UK. They are 1.73 (8/11) to win the game, while the visitors are 5.50 (9/2) underdogs with draw selling for 3.75 (11/4).

The BET on Newcastle v Sunderland odds

The Tyne-Wear derby is always a hotly contested affair, though in recent years Sunderland have had the upper hand. They won 3-0 at the Stadium of Light back in October, with Coloccini getting sent off for pushing Steven Fletcher. This match will be as important as ever, with the loser likely doomed to relegation. Newcastle are favourites at 2.10 (11/0), Sunderland are unfancied at 3.80 (14/5), with draw at 3.50 (5/2).

There is renewed hope for the black-and-white side though, with Champions League winning manager Rafa Benitez at the helm. Will the crafty Spaniard have a plan to outwit Sam Allardyce, who has seen it all? Newcastle certainly looked much improved against Leicester last Monday, conceding only once for a change. Meanwhile, Sunderland were left deflated as they conceded a last minute equalizer to Southampton.

This should be tight, with both teams knowing the heavy cost of defeat. Sunderland will be hoping Wahbi Khazri can create some magic; his set-pieces are dangerous and he is a tempting bet to score first, at 10.00 (9/1). Benitez, meanwhile, loves a dynamic attacking midfielder and will hope that Jonjo Shelvey can replicate the “Gerrard” role for him. Shelvey just missed out on the England squad, so will be desperate to impress.

Best bet: Jonjo Shelvey First Goalscorer at 13.00 (14/1) at Bet365 Sportsbook

The BET on Man City v Man United odds

Not long ago this derby was a title decider, now a Champions League place is the most at stake. Pride still matters though, with both teams and managers needing something to redeem their season. Manchester City may only be four points ahead, but they are clear favourites at 1.83 (83/100), while United are back at 4.75 (15/4); draw is 3.75 (11/4).

United are out of Europe, while City have a Champions League quarter final with PSG to look forward to, so this match may matter just a little bit more to the away side. City haven’t scored in their last two games, even against the usually sieve-like defence of Norwich. This bodes well for Manchester United, whose only world class player is David De Gea in goal. If one of their young strikers can grab a goal, that could be a very important victory.

The BET on Torino v Juventus odds

This weekend gives us the chance to try what Italian football is about as the Turin derby will be hosted in Stadio Olimpico di Torino. The home team has been preparing for the derby all week, however they are in a horrible form: Torino haven’t won a single game out of their last four Serie A matches.

On the other hand, Juventus had an incredibly tight battle in the Champions League, which they lost to Bayern Munich, despite their 0-2 lead in Allianz Arena. The question is, did the failure break their confidence, or did it give them even more motivation to triumph in the domestic league?

According to online sportsbooks in italy, Juventus are favourites for the Derby della Mole as their odds are 1.95 (19/20). The odds for draw and home victory are 3.10 (21/10) and 4.75 (15/4) respectively at Bet365 Sportsbook. La Vecchia Signora will need a good result against the city rival to get back their confidence, and well, they need to keep their three point advantage over Napoli.
