Here we take a look at a few of the biggest bad boys in the NBA, and examine what exactly has been done to earn them these reputations.

The NBA has some of the most interesting characters in all of sports. Many of these men resemble the ideal athlete who works hard and strives to be a role model, while others have gained a reputation as bad boys who don’t exactly follow the rules. In this article we take a look at a few athletes who fit into the latter category.

Russell Westbrook

  • Cleveland Cavaliers: 3.75
  • San Antonio Spurs: 6.50
  • Houston Rockets: 17.00
  • Boston Celtics: 23.00
Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook is one of the best players in the NBA right now, but is also one of the NBA’s biggest bad boys. The six-time NBA All-Star, and 2-time NBA All-Star Game MVP has had numerous technicals and ejections throughout his career, and he’s now known as a player not to be trifled with.

Perhaps the most high-profile example of Westbrook’s bad boy image came in November of 2016 when 6’ 11” Nene gave him a slight shove. Instead of letting it go and moving along with the game, Russell gave Nene an even bigger shove back, earning him an ejection.

Recently, Westbrook has been a bit tamer. He’s not been engaged in any major feuds with players on the court, but has helped the Thunder reach the number 6 rankings in the Western Conference. At the moment, the Thunder’s odds to win the NBA Championship are set at 81.00, according to Intertops.

Draymond Green

Draymond Green has gained a reputation for being a dirty player over the years, and is also considered to be one of the biggest bad boys in the NBA. The Warriors power forward has been involved in many different foul situations throughout his career. Check out the video below to see some of the most famous instances.

Green has stated time and time again that he does not want to be considered a dirty player. “I hate that. I hate that. I don’t like people calling me dirty because I know I don’t do dirty things. At the end of the day, they’re gonna say whatever they want to say, and I’m not gonna lose no sleep over it. But I don’t like people to call me dirty because I know I’m not a dirty player,” He told CSN Bay Area.

Despite his controversies in the court, Draymond Green is still considered to be the “heart and soul” of the Warriors. He’s been phenomenal this season, recently setting a new NBA record by recording 10 steals and five blocks in a single game. At the moment, nearly all online sportsbooks in the US list the Warriors as the betting favorites to win the 2017 NBA Championship with odds of 1.85.

Matt Barnes

Another member of the Golden State Warriors to make the list of the biggest bad boys in the NBA is 37 year old small forward Matt Barnes. What makes him such a bad boy? To start, he’s had a number of run ins with the law.

In 2010, Barnes was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence. In 2014, he was once again arrested for threatening a police officer. Barnes is even said to have driven 95 miles to "beat the s—it out of” Knicks head coach Derek Fisher, who was allegedly spending time with Barnes ex-wife.

Barnes may be reaching the tail-end of his career. As we said before, he’s 37 years of age, and has been playing the NBA since 2002. He can still help his team make US gambling news by winning the NBA Championship this year, but it remains to be seen how long he’ll carry on.
