With the 2018 season getting closer with each passing day this year we thought we'd follow week by week the trials and tribulations of this entrepreneurial team and it's fight for points in one of the world's most exacting sports. When the smallest fractions of a second can count, and every gram in weight is a burden Formula One takes no prisoners and you can bet Force India will have its work cut out to keep up with the likes of Ferrari, Red Bull and Mercedes in their 10th year of racing.
Force India In Formula One
  • First race – Australia 2008
  • Last race – Abu Dhabi 2017
  • Race wins – 0
  • Podiums – 5
  • Poles – 1
  • Fastest Laps - 5
Force India began when Indian businessman Vijay Mallya teamed up with Dutch businessman Michiel Mol and bought out the then rather dismal Spyker F1 team for the seeming pricey tag of ninety million Euro and if they were sensible enough to know they weren't about to win from the off in 2008 they might have expected a little more luck than to go for 29 races without a blip on the points table, but their bet Force India could compete wasn't entirely wasted as slowly they've developed into real racers. The new Indian gambling laws allowed many players from India to enter the F1 betting market and there was quite a lot of money being wagered.   Early reliability issues were left behind in a cloud of exhaust fumes and with Sergio Perez and Esteban Ocon driving for them currently (and Nicholas Latifi in the background as test driver) they finished a creditable fourth in the 2017 season on some 187 points. Their profile too has increased with their gaining of momentum over the years and a bet Force India might win a podium place is now a favorite wager of those doing some online gambling in India during the Formula One season's shenanigans.

Force India Fight For Every Finish In Formula One

The team have Andrew Green at the helm as technical director and he's bet Force India need not be too radical with their approach to the 2018 season (as they'll tell you in any casino in India, why fix what ain't broke?) and expectations are being played down for when their new VJM11 is unveiled just prior to pre-season testing later this month that they'll have moved much away from the car that did them so proud last season, but naturally with recent changes in F1 rules there have had to be some changes.

“The Halo means you need to make quite big changes.” Mr Green told the media, “So we will try to be in a similar condition we had with our old car for the start of testing.” Going on to add that “The 2018 car is a bit more elegant but visually very similar to last year.” He also confirmed that he's bet Force India can improve rapidly as the season nears. “We want to go to Barcelona with a car that we know works. It should be a good foundation that we can then start to develop with quite big steps.” He said.

  • Drivers Championship
  • Esteban Ocon – 250/1
  • Sergio Perez – 250/1
  • Constructors Championship
  • Force India – 250/1
Of course whilst the team chases the big names like Sebastian Vettel, Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen ahead of them the competition from the teams just behind them is immense as team boss Rob Fernley knows all too well and he's bet Force India can keep Renault and McLaren at bay. “They are a significant threat and we need to take it seriously. We need to do quite a bit of work ourselves. There will be no quarter given. The three teams will be locked into a massive battle.”   Of course those betting that Force India can win races might be disappointed, but their propensity to grab the odd podium here and there makes them well worth a speculative each-way wager and we'll keep you up to date with all the odds at the sportbooks in India as the season progresses with Perez and Ocon both an amusing 250/1 to win the drivers championship and Force India themselves at the same odds to win the constructors championship, but individual race performances will be a different story.
