Mobile Casinos in Croatia

Although online gambling has been legal and regulated in Croatia since 2010, online or mobile casino operators must first possess a land-based casino license. Consequently, no such casinos have been launched yet. State-owned Hrvatska Lutrija has signed a deal with Intralot and Microgaming to launch such offers, so they may happen in late 2013. Mobile penetration in Croatia is near 130%, with the subscribers split among T-Hrvatski Telekom (46%), Vip (40%) and Tele2 (14%). The country has a relatively low smartphone penetration with less than 2 out of 10 mobiles falling into this category, though sales are growing steadily. Considering the popularity of land-base casinos and game parlors, as well as online sports betting, combined with the growth of smartphone ownership, it won’t be long before Croatians begin to access mobile casinos in large numbers.
