Vysshaya Liga 2020

Football fans should better familiarize themselves with the Belarusian Vysshaya Liga, Europe’s only professional football competition still playing. The competition has kicked off in March, with plenty of best bets on Vysshaya Liga 2020 currently available by bookmakers.

While coronavirus has disrupted football across the globe, Belarus is the only European country going about its business as usual. Online sportsbook news sites in Belarus have reported the new top-flight season has started on March 19, with Energetyk-BGU pulling a shock 3-1 win over BATE Borisov. The season will likely run as usual until December, with 16 teams competing for the title.

The top division of professional football in Belarus is certainly not among the top leagues in Europe. But, after the Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A, and Ligue 1 have been suspended, the Belarusian Vysshaya Liga remains the last in the continent still playing. So, here are the best three teams to follow, shall you consider placing a bet on Vysshaya Liga 2020.

Dinamo Brest favored to win against FC Slutsk

The defending champions Dinamo Brest have won their first title last season leading by five points over BATE Borisov. Their opening match this season did not go as planned, finishing with a 1-1 draw against Smolevichi-STI who were recently promoted from the second division. Dinamo Brest has lost one of their top midfielders Pavel Nyakhaychyk to BATE Borisov, but they still have Dzyanis Laptsew who scored 12 goals last season. Should you bet on Vysshaya Liga 2020, consider picking Dinamo Brest to win against FC Slutsk on March 28 with 1.38 odds at Bwin Sports.

BATE Borisov had a disappointing start

One of the most popular football teams in Belarus, BATE Borisov, has failed to win the title last season, settling with the runner-up spot. However, with extensive experience in hands, they can bounce back easily. BATE has won the title 15 times including 13 titles between 2006-2018. They have also won three Belarusian Cups and four Belarusian Super Cups. Besides, BATE is the first Belarusian team to reach the group stage of the Champions League in 2008 and the Europa League in 2009.

Their first match was disappointing with a shock of 1-3 defeat against Energetik-BGU. Their next game will be against Slavia-Mazyr on March 28. According to online sportsbooks in Belarus BATE are the massive favorites with 1.33 odds at Bwin Sports.

Dinamo Minsk yet to bounce back

In the earliest years, the league was dominated by Dinamo Minsk. They won five times in a row between 1992 – 1995. Later on, they won the title twice and won three Belarusian Cups. Last season Dinamo Minsk have finished fourth. For the local fans, Dinamo Minsk is the top rivals for BATE. But, their opening match against Ruh Brest did not go well, as Dinamo lost 0-1. They are expected to bounce back against FC Minsk with 1.95 odds to win.
