Brazil striker Rivaldo scored the most, 10 goals in that season. But team captain Luis Enrique and Dutch forward Patrick Kluivert also added a few goals to this number.
The biggest Champions League win ever
Defending Premier League champions Liverpool have always been famous for their attacking football and scoring ability. So it’s no surprise that they managed to achieve the joint biggest win in Champions League history. As the Reds won 8-0 against Turkish Besiktas in a group game in the 2007-08 season. Peter Crouch scored the first goal of the match which was soon followed by Yossi Benayoun’s hat-trick. Gerrard, a brace from Babel and another Crouch goal also contributed to the final scoreline. But Real Madrid also managed to score eight goals against the Swedish team, Malmo in 2015. Cristiano Ronaldo scored four goals, Karim Benzema had a hat-trick and even Mateo Kovacic scored a goal in another group stage game. This was the club’s biggest win in their long history which is also a joint record with Liverpool.
Most goals scored in a Champions League game
Next let’s see the Champions League games with the most goals. First we have the Monaco vs Deportivo La Coruna game from the 2003-04 season. When the home team knocked out their Spanish opponent with an 8-3 win. Croatian striker Dado Prso scored four goals to secure the French team’s qualification to the last 16. In spite of their big defeat Deportivo also got to the next round and went all the way to the semi-finals. While Monaco reached their first and so far only final but lost there against Jose Mourinho’s Porto.
Even more goals were scored in the Borussia Dortmund vs Legia Warsaw group stage game in 2016, when the final result was 8-4. The German team was already leading 5-2 in half time, but didn’t stop in the second half. Shinji Kagawa and Marco Reus both scored twice, while Aleksandar Prijovic also got a brace for Legia. Dortmund reached the quarter-finals in that season, just like this year when Manchester City stopped them.

Highest scoring Champions League final game
The final of the 2004-05 season is a legendary one for several reasons. Probably most fans remember it for the magical comeback of Liverpool. Who got back to the game from being 0-3 down against AC Milan. They scored three goals in six minutes to equalize and won the game in the penalty shoot-out 3-2. But the result of the normal playing time, 3-3 also means that this game is the highest scoring Champions League final game. Hopefully we can see another exciting match in this season’s final.
