Pennsylvania Set to Discuss Online Gambling Regulation

According to multiple reports, lawmakers inside the state of Pennsylvania will soon discuss legalizing online gambling regulation.

Just a few months after the Pennsylvania House of Representatives approved a bill that opened up the possibility of legalizing online daily fantasy sports in Pennsylvania, the Pennsylvania House Gaming Oversight Committee will discuss the possibility of online gambling regulation throughout the state.

The daily fantasy sports discussion was halted in the Senate, and reports state it is still no closer to becoming a reality. John Payne, a member of Pennsylvania’s House of Representatives and leading sponsor of the bill, claims the DFS bill has been discussed over 50 times, but no laws have yet been made official.

Payne is a firm believer that the legalization of online gambling, and particularly online sportsbooks in the US such as Bovada should be regulated inside of Pennsylvania, and told the media he is doing “everything he can” to push the state senate to consider the new bill. At this point, most analysts state the chances of online gambling regulation in Pennsylvania are 50-50.

What is the current online gambling situation in Pennsylvania?

The 2006 Unlawful Internet Gambling and Enforcement Act federally outlawed almost all forms of online gambling in the US. The efforts of people like John Payne finally paid off in 2012, when it was decided that states could decide their own laws regarding internet gambling.

Unfortunately, only a handful of states have actually legalized online gambling. If Pennsylvania allows online gambling regulation, it would made major US gambling news, and could set an example for other states looking for additional revenue to follow.

Do you think that online gambling regulation will be passed in Pennsylvania? Would this push other states to do the same? Tell us what you think by leaving a comment below, and check out Bovada to find all the best sports betting odds!
