  • 2020-21 Scottish League Cup final is held next week, 28th of February in Glasgow
  • Rangers and Celtic are both out
  • Livingston and St Johnstone will play against each other with similar chances to win
The final of the 2020-21 Scottish League Cup is held next weekend. On the 28th of February at Hampden Park, in Glasgow. Where two less-known Premiership sides, Livingston and St Johnstone will meet each other for the first time in the cup’s history. Both teams have similar odds to win the trophy in the Scottish League Cup odds. With Livingston being slightly favored to win their second cup title.  The Scottish League Cup is the oldest national League Cup in the world after its first version was held in the 1946-47 season. As in most countries, it is the second most prestigious knockout tournament in Scotland after the Scottish Cup. 40 teams started the tournament with the group games last October with four Premiership sides only joining in the second round. Rangers are the record holders with 27 wins ahead of big rivals Celtic who won the cup 19 times. Including the last season when they defeated Rangers 1-0 in the final. But this time both Celtic and Rangers were knocked out early, which opened up an opportunity for smaller teams to go all the way.

Scottish League Cup odds are similar for both finalists’ victory

Livingston are currently in 5th place in the Scottish Premiership 40 points behind the current leaders, Rangers. It is a massive difference but the two top teams usually have such advantage ahead of the other clubs. But now Livingston have a chance to win a trophy for the second time in the club’s history. They won the League Cup first in the 2003-04 season after defeating Hibernian in the final 2-0. In this year’s tournament first they won their group confidently with four wins. Then knocked out Ayr United, Ross Country and St Mirren to reach the final.
Scottish League Cup odds
Let's play!
Where they will face St Johnstone who are 9 points behind them in the championship in 8th place. The Perth side managed to surprise them though in their last meeting. Where St Johnstone won 2-1 and ended Livingston’s 14-game unbeaten run. Online sportsbooks in the UK still favor David Martindale’s side to win the final with the odds of 2.40. Due to their great season so far and impressive performance in the cup. Where midfielder Alan Forrest has scored 7 goals so far while Scott Robinson scored the winner against St Mirren in the semi-final.

Can St Johnstone win for the third time?

The Saints have reached the Scottish League Cup final twice before, in 1970 and in 1998 losing it both times. Now they have a third chance to win the second trophy of the club’s history after their victory in the 2014 Scottish Cup. Callum Davidson’s team has been performing well in this season’s league cup tournament, and knocked out Hibernian in the semi-final. Now they have the odds of 2.75 for their victory in the final. But fans of the team can be optimistic after they defeated their opponent two weeks ago with the goals of Scott Tanser and Shaun Rooney. Both teams showed a restrained performance in that game with very few goals scoring opportunities. Hopefully it will be a different match on Sunday with a more open play. Where St Johnstone has an even better chance of winning if their experienced midfielder, Murray Davidson can return after his injury.
