Swedish Svensson Chases A Title Again

Nisse Sauerland's Nordic Fight Night on September 12th isn't the only big card boxing event happening in Scandinavia with the Rosvalla Stora Ishallen at the Nykopings Arenor in Sweden in what is being billed as the biggest night in Swedish boxing since 1968. A full card of action is promised which should make for interesting viewing if you like to bet on sports in Sweden, especially as much of the talent will be homegrown.
The headline fight is, of course, the Light Heavyweight bout when Oleksandr Cherviak challenges Erik Skoglund for the IBF Intercontinental, and whether you're betting online at ComeOn! Sportsbook or at some Thai casino online, you should definitely add spice to that batter-fest with a bet or two. Much of the support card is still to be decided but one bout very definitely on the cards is Klara Svensson vs Marisa Gabriela Nunez.
“There is no one more deserving of a second chance than Klara,” said ever ebullient promoter Nisse Sauerland of Svensson's defeat last Nordic Fight Night, “She showed a champion’s heart against Farias, and if it wasn’t for the knock down, I believe we would already be looking at a World Champion. Now she has a chance to right that wrong, and on September 19, I expect Klara to take her place at the top of the female light welterweight division.”
As for herself Klara is looking forward to the title bout feeling ready to take on yet another Argentinian in the wake of her only professional loss to one against Erica Anabella Farias. She told the press; “I'm really excited to get this opportunity, I'm hungrier and more determined than ever. I'm coming back with more experience and even more self-belief. I know I’m capable of beating Nunez, and on September 19, I will become World Champion!”
Not that she doesn't acknowledge what happened, much as she's put that defeat behind her she seems determined to profit by her loss as best she can, saying; “The fight against Farias was a great learning experience for me. I've taken a lot of positives from that night. The decision didn’t go my way but boxing-wise I felt I had her under control. I just made one mistake, dropping my hands in the fifth-round, and that cost me the fight.”
“With a loss, a lot depends on how you lose, and I can take pride in my performance.” She said evenly. “I gave it my all and I think people saw that. Everyone has been really positive and I'm thankful for their support. I feel like people want me to succeed and that’s gives me even more motivation to win on September 19.” And if you're Swedish gambling laws of sporting averages simply make her due for a win she herself is far more realistic about it.
“Nunez is another tough Argentinian – she actually reminds me a little of Farias.” Svensson admits candidly, “I've watched her fights and I know her style. She’s short, compact and comes to fight. I also know she’s not too fast on her feet so if I box smart, use my speed and trust in my boxing ability I’m confident I can beat her.” A prediction the veracity of which remains to be seen as her bout plays the main supporting role on the 19th of September.
Her ambition however has no been dulled by defeat and her drive to win is still manifest in the way she's training and approaching the fight, she knows this could be make or break time but still the dream persists. “It would mean everything to me to become World Champion and to do it at home in Sweden would make it extra special. I've not fought in Sweden since I was an amateur and now I’m back challenging for a World title - it’s a dream scenario!’’
Obviously she's gambling news coverage the next day will be of her dream coming true but counting out Nunez before the bell has rung is probably not all that wise. With a record of 7-5-2 she's by no means coming at this without skills, but up against Svensson at home (15-1-5) you have to say that the odds will almost certainly be on the blonde bombshell from Sweden in front of her home crowd on that fateful night in Nykoping.
