The female politician called for companies to retrofit buildings and make them more energy efficient.

While lawmakers are still debating whether to change American gambling laws and allow internet gambling in the US, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is trying to revolutionize the land-based casino industry. Companies should make efforts to be more energy efficient, she says, and Las Vegas casinos should be the first ones to start making the change.

“Imagine if every casino in Las Vegas retrofitted to improve energy efficiency and if they made it possible for all their employees to do the same in their homes. It would save on utility bills. It would save on energy. It would save on greenhouse gas emissions,” she argued.

Investing to save money

According to recent gambling news, Clinton said retrofitting buildings is “the most overlooked opportunity” to become more eco-friendly, while at the same time creating new jobs and saving money.

“We are once again not doing the lowest hanging fruit picking that we could,” she added.

Over the past few years, Las Vegas casino profits have been dropping, so finding new ways to save money would indeed be great for the industry. But when it comes to retrofitting buildings, not many companies are willing to make that kind of financial effort.
