The economy problems of the country also effected the lotto in 2015, as lottery dropped in China by 3.8%

Though lottery games and online lotto are getting more and more popular around the world, lottery dropped in China in 2015. The Ministry of Financed issued the official figures for last year’s lottery income in the country and it fell by 3.8%.

Since the economy problems in the country hurt several other sectors as well, it is no surprise that lottery dropped in China too. Other major factor is the online lottery ban in China, which surely doesn’t help raising the numbers.

Sales of lottery dropped in China to €51.6 billion

Lottery dropped in China to RMB367.9 billion (€51.8 billion/$56.1 billion) overall. Welfare lottery fell by 2.2% to RMB201.5 billion. Sports lottery declined by 5.7% to RMB166.4 billion. Though the 2015 numbers were shorter than the ones from the previous year, the industry is still 18.7% over the RMB309.0 billion that was recorded in 2013.

The revenue from lotteries is an important income to finance administrative expenses and the jackpot itself. A big part of them helps social welfare and sports facilities.
