True professionals stay faithful to the game and amateurs are trying to prove they belong with the best of the best. There’s a long list of live competitions happening in the USA and internationally over the week. We have selected the best of them with the largest guaranteed prize pools and present the list to our readers below.

International poker tournaments

The latest stop on the UK and Ireland Poker Tour will be hosted in Nottingham. The Dusk Till Dawn club in Lenton will host the series from May 7 to May 12, where the biggest attraction will naturally be the GBP 1,100 buy-in NLHE tourney kicking off on the first day of the meeting.

As for the poker tournaments under American gambling laws, there are plenty this week. The bestbet club in Jacksonville, Northern Florida, will be the setting for the 2014 CPPT II bestbet Jacksonville until May 12. The Card Player Poker Tour will host yet another exciting series of poker tournaments. The focus of the festival is the $1,500 CPPT Main Event with $300,000 in guaranteed prize pool. The first of two starting flights commences on May 9, while the winner will be decided on May 12 at a live-streamed table.

Northeast poker tournaments

American poker rooms in Northeast of the country are still hosting the 2014 Parx Big Stax VI poker festival. The Parx Casino in Bensalem will be the gathering point for all poker aficionados until May 19. The biggest attraction of the 9-event series – the $550 buy-in NLHE event – is scheduled to start with the first of three flights on May 8.

Midwest poker tournaments

The Horseshoe Hammond in Indiana is hosting the 2014 Chicago Poker Classic until May 12. This particular location has become renowned for huge poker tourneys in recent years. This time around there’s a giant $1,000,000 prize-pooled event with $1,500 buy-in. It has two starting flights the first of which kicks off at noon on May 9.

Mountain poker tourneys

Looking to escape the crowded cities and enjoy some spectacular views while playing poker? Then the 2014 Colorado Poker Championship IX is just what the doctor ordered. The massive poker series will be held between May 9 and 26 at the Golden Gates Casino in Black Hawk, Colorado. This week’s attraction is the $300 buy-in NLHE poker tourney starting on May 10.

California poker tourneys

Although the debate whether to allow California to host online poker sites in the United States is still going on, live poker tournaments are in full swing there. The 2014 HPT California State Poker Championship is already open and will be hosted at the Commerce Casino until May 19. It is a scheduled stop on the Heartland Poker Tour and delivers an 18-event festival to California. This week, the biggest event will be the $350 buy-in NLHE tourney with $100,000 in guaranteed prize pool. It kicks off on May 9.

South poker tournaments

The South of the country will also be the scene of some hot poker action this week. The Harrah’s New Orleans is preparing to host the 2014 WSOP Circuit New Orleans between May 8 and May 19. Over the first weekend of the festival, the biggest event is a three-day tourney with $365 buy-in. This particular NLHE event has two starting flights, both of which are scheduled for May 10.
