Under a new digital plan, Ecuador aims for Internet access to half of all household by 2015. Ecuador’s mobile base reaches 15.76 million, and 3G subscriptions hit 1.47 million. There are over 520,000 smartphone users in Ecuador. Nearly 70% of them use their handsets to access social network services, 69.8% - search info on the web, 65.9% - check email, 62.1% - play mobile games and listen to music, and 42.8% - access GPS applications. The main mobile operators in the country are Claro and Movistar.
