Edmonton Oilers vs Chicago Blackhawks

Oilers versus Blackhawks

The Oilers are the underdogs in this match

The Edmonton Oilers have been playing good hockey lately. While they lost 4-2 to the New York Rangers on Tuesday, they’d been on an impressive six-game win streak before that—the franchise’s longest in four years. They’re definitely contenders for the final Pacific Division playoff spot, and are currently tied with Calgary, Vancouver, and Arizona at 30 points.

The Chicago Blackhawks suffered a rough 3-0 shutout loss on Tuesday to the Colorado Avalanche, but they’re already looking for new ways to rebound. Their most interesting move was exchanging defenseman Trevor Daley for Pittsburgh Penguins player Rob Scuderi, a two-time Stanley Cup winner. With their improved roster, they’re definitely one to watch out for on online gambling sites in the US.

With both teams ramping up the offense lately, our December 17 NHL betting odds are expecting this game to easily go over 5, which is available at GTbets at 1.95 (19/20). Who the winner will be is a little trickier to predict. While the Chicago Blackhawks are a safe bet at 1.43 (43/100), we’d actually go with Edmonton on this one. The Oilers are going to be giving it their all in the fight for a playoff spot, and the Blackhawks still need more time to adjust to their changed roster.

Prediction: Edmonton Oilers win 3.00 (2/1) at GTbets

Calgary Flames vs Dallas Stars

Flames versus Stars

Can the Flames surprise us again?

We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again: The Calgary Flames are on fire. They’re currently enjoying their sixth consecutive win and air aiming for a seventh when they play an away game in Dallas tonight. With Johnny Gaudreau on their roster, they stand a great chance of doing just that. Gaudreau currently has three goals and four assists in overtime during the 2015/16 NHL season, on top of 12 goals and 20 assists through 30 games. While many Flames players are doing exceptionally well lately, Gaudreau is definitely the one burning the brightest.

That said, it’s hard to beat the Dallas Stars, who aren’t currently the best team in hockey for nothing. Their play borders on perfection, as was exemplified in their Tuesday match against Columbus. Offenseman Tyler Seguin—who holds an impressive 17 goals and 25 assists so far this season—scored goals seconds apart, while goalie Kari Lehtonen stopped 34 out of 35 shots.

While the majority of December 17 NHL betting odds point towards the Stars winning this one (and for good reason), it never hurts to take a gamble on the Calgary Flames, who are 3.05 (41/20) to win on GTbet’s NHL betting lines. They’ve come out the victors in some surprising matches lately, so who’s to say they couldn’t shock everyone and defeat Dallas, too?

Prediction: Dallas Stars win 1.42 (21/50) at GTbets

Los Angeles Kings vs Montreal Canadiens

Kings versus Canadiens

The Habs are losing their touch

The Los Angeles Kings are coming off their second loss in a row after losing 5-3 to the Ottawa Senators this week. Before that, they’d enjoyed a six game winning streak. The Kings are a good team, but they’re imbalanced, and it’s showing. Their offense is lacking as they currently stand 17th in scoring (2.5 gpg) and 20th in power play conversions (18.2%). In opposition, they have a very good defense, which ranks 5th in penalty kill and 1st in goals allowed (2.2 gpg). They’ve also got a great goalie in Jonathan Quick, who is now 16-9 with a 2.28 GAA in the overall year.

In opposition, the Montreal Canadiens have a fine balance of talent across the ice. However, as of late they’ve been majorly struggling, having lost an astonishing five out of their last six games, which makes internet betting on them an unsure thing for the first time this season. They’re still 3rd in the league in scoring (3.1 gpg) but have only averaged 1.88 gpg in their last eight games. Montreal is an elite team with great defense and offense, but ever since goalie Carey Price was injured, they just seem lost.

It’s definitely not an easy pick for who’s going to emerge the victor of this match, with GTbets putting both the Kings and the Habs up at 1.91 (91/100) to win. One thing’s for certain, however: The game’s going to be under. The Kings rarely put up more than five goals, while Montreal’s offense has taken a serious dip. Taking those facts into consideration, we’d be shocked if this match went over 5.

Prediction: Game under 5 for 1.95 (19/20) at GTbets
