Loewen Play Gear Up for New Schleswig-Holstein Casino with Dictao Partnership Overseeing IT Compliance

After being awarded a casino license in the German state of Schleswig-Holstein, Loewen Play have chosen iGaming security solutions company Dictao as their IT compliance partner, as they look to begin operations in the German state.

Under German gambling laws, individual states have the power to offer casino licenses for land-based casinos, yet even during a country wide ban between 2008 and 2012, Schleswig-Holstein still operated casinos within state borders. The Northern German state, bordering with Denmark, has long been a more liberal gambling state than the rest of the country.

Since being granted a casino license in February this year, Loewen Play have been collecting everything they needed to start operations. There are strict IT compliance regulations for casinos in Germany, and this new partnership with Dictao will ensure that they comply with these regulations on security in particular.

Loewen Play head of IT, Paul Kase, commented: “We chose Dictao because they have the know-how and experience to streamline operators’ capabilities to comply with standard-based and market-proven security services that have been required by online gaming regulators across multiple jurisdictions, including Schleswig-Holstein.”

The North German state is also home to the only online casinos in Germany, as their regulations are different from the rest of the country. As such, it is a popular destination for casino operators.

Online and mobile betting is also highly regulated in Germany, and companies have been flocking north to Schleswig-Holstein to take advantage of more liberal regulations in the state. So it comes as no surprise to see another player springing up in the casino market close to the Danish border.

With EU regulations changing on an almost daily basis, this is an interesting time to be a gambling operator for sure. With the US joining the online casino party, gambling looks all set for another renaissance.
