Preview of the Football Summer Transfer Window 2023

The following article is the second part of our big investigation about football summer transfer window 2023. To read more predictions about the most possible buys, check out the first chapter of the summer transfer window 2023.

Chelsea Can Get Rid of Many Players

Foremost, Mason Mount’s departure from Chelsea seems to be around the corner. This Chelsea Academy graduate is seemingly amongst a group of six high profile Blues who may depart from Stamford Bridge in the summer.

Todd Boehly’s Blues look drastically different to recent squads. Almost nothing is the same at Chelsea, pretty much everything has been altered. Expect more changes in the next while. Christian Pulisic, Hakim Ziyech, Mateo Kovacic, Kalidou Koulibaly and Callum Hudson-Odo are listed for sale. At the moment, Mount’s reputation far exceeds his showings.

Although the skill set, history and pedigree is there in the capacity of the Blues youth sides all the way through to the England international sides, World Cups and Euros, the midfield man is not showcasing these attributes. Nor is he living up to his lofty status. Form may be temporary, but so is a place on the Chelsea roster, let alone the starting line-up.

Football Summer Transfer Window 2023: Joao Cancelo

Another big name, Joao Cancelo, could leave Manchester City for good after a conflict with the city’s head coach, Pep Guardiola. Bayern Munich brought in Cancelo on a loan deal from Man City for 70 million euros for the Portuguese attacking defender. Bayern will not trigger the option to buy for 70 million, but might be looking to knock the price down in the summer.

Should Cancelo not stay in Munich beyond the 2022/23 season, another club is in the shadows watching the situation. This is where Barcelona comes into play. They are observing Cancelo and might make a move for him if Bayern don’t.

Currently, the Bavarians haven’t said anything to Cancelo, but are still monitoring his stay while a future in an FCB club is likely if Pep Guardiola opts not to roll with the former Juventus player upon return to Manchester. Bet365 gives good odds for Cancelo to move to Spain during the football summer transfer window 2023.

What about Harry Kane?

Erik ten Hag wants Manchester United to sign Harry Kane. The Mancunians head coach sees the 29-year-old Englishman as a priority target for the attacking side. The forward’s contract with Tottenham expires in 2024.  United can be the only APL club Kane could join this summer. They are almost certain to secure a Champions League spot and the transfer of the striker is one of the club’s top targets.

At the same time, Bayern Munich keep an eye on Harry Kane. However, they will probably stay away from the bidding war for the Tottenham star. The England captain has long been linked with a move to the German champions, heightened more so by his failure to agree a new deal at Spurs.

Bayern are in the mix for a goalscorer after failing to secure a like-for-like replacement for Robert Lewandowski. However, lavish spending on new recruits Matthijs de Ligt, Sadio Mane and Mathys Tel means Bayern will likely have to tighten the purse strings in the future. Therefore, the Bavarian side would only ‘plan’ to swoop for Kane if he becomes a free agent.

De Jong Will Probably Stay in Barcelona

Following online gambling sites in the UK, Erik ten Hag is ready to renegotiate the transfer of Frankie de Jong in the summer. The Dutchman insisted on signing the former Ajax player last summer, but Frenkie refused and stayed at Barcelona. However, Ten Hag needs a quality midfielder, so knowing the financial situation at the Catalan club, he can make another attempt. United are likely to return to the UCL, and the fight for the major trophies is how they want to attract the player. De Jong is currently more than happy with his life and career at Barça and has not expressed a desire to leave.
