Frenchman Yorane Kerignard beats Italy’s Jackson Genovesi in the final round.

French gambling news was happy to report their fellow countryman Yorane Kerignard winning EUR 120,000 at the World Poker Tour Malta tournament. This is his third largest career winning so far, flying him into the serious million-Euro field.

With the title, Kerignard also reserved himself a $25,500 seat at the WPT World Championship. Kerignard, known to have picked up his skills at online poker sites in France, beat 168 players who entered the tournament.

Kerignard’s international final table was made up of Jackson Genovesi and Alessio Isaia from Italy, Asian Stunner Hui Chen Kuo aka “Kitty”, Croatia’s Zeljko Krizan and Sampo Ryynanen from Finland.

The Frenchman defeated the ever-flamboyant Genovesi in the heads-up following a series of emotional scenes showing how important the WPT title is to a poker player.

Earlier on, Kerignard eliminated Kitty opening to 40,000 from the button and Kitty three-bet to 103,000. Alessio Isaia folded his big blind, and Kerignard moved all-in.

Alessio Isaia’s departed in the third position. Genovesi started the final battle with about 600,000 chips ahead. However, the Frenchman managed to break away with 2 to 1 lead.

Genovesi opened the final hand to 125,000 and then called as Yorane Kerignard three-bet up to 260,000. After the flop came down, Kerignard continued with a 210,000 bet. After long hesitation, Genovesi called all in for a shade over 1,200,000.

Genovesi cried as he ran away from the tournament area: “NO, NO, NO, NO! Why did it have to end like this?”

World Poker Tour Malta winnings in US Dollars: Yorane Kerignard: $182,292, Jackson Genovesi $108,024, Alessio Isaia $68,981, Hui Chen Kuo $51,409, Zeljko Krizan $38,425 Sampo Ryynanen $30,556.

It is suspected that Kerignard will have to tax his wining according to the French gambling laws.
