  • Genius ideas in the snow
  • Have great time with these unusual sports
  • Fun alternative winter sports

According to many tourism experts, it is impossible to expand the winter sports business any further. They justify this statement not only with the increasingly weak winters caused by global warming but also with the fact that there are no more sports to invent for the cold season. However, this only motivated companies in the business, and fans of snow, to come up with more fun alternative winter sports.

Snow Kayaking

Fans of the summer version, water rafting, invented this new sport and have been practicing it for decades now. The essence of snow kayaking is that the athlete gets into the kayak, takes the paddle, pushes himself off the top of the mountain, and then just slides down. You can more or less steer the vehicle with the paddle, but using it as a break is almost impossible.

They can reach the speed of 50 km/h, just like doing two-meter-high jumps, so this sport requires not only skills but courage. Snow kayaking is perhaps even more dangerous than its river version in the summer. The first European competition took place in Austria in 2004, and since then, this eccentric sport has become more and more widespread and popular.

A revolutionary product, snowfeet, started its world-conquering journey in the Czech Republic. With short plastic skis attached to winter boots, you can move freely on the snow with skating movements. The edges of the snowfeet are covered with metal, which helps with turning. Snowfeet is easy to carry! You can take it where you don’t want to bring skis or boards. It does not require special shoes, you can easily attach it to any boots.

Foot size doesn’t matter either, as the snowfeet buckles are adjustable. Snowfeet can be used on flat terrains and slopes at any snow-covered place. Snowfeet videos are already spreading on online gambling sites in the UK, where you can see what movements to use to get the most out of the new winter sports experience. The inventors of snowfeet want to make it a new Olympic sport one day. Investors are already lining up, and it caught the media’s attention.

Skijoring

Skijoring means skiing pulled by an animal or motor vehicle. There are many versions, from the milder alternatives to the crazy and dangerous ones. The term skijoring comes from the word kjøring, which means driving. This is a unique sport, yet, which kid did not try to have their dog pull them on their sleigh? This fun alternative winter sport appeared in Norway first as a demonstration category at the 1928 Winter Olympics.

There are several versions, but the essence of all of them is that the skier or snowboarder is pulled by something, either an animal or a motor vehicle, on the snowy ground. The best-known versions are dog, horse, car, or snow sled skijoring.

The equestrian version can be of several types. In the simplest version, the skier holds the harness attached to the horse and controls the horse with it. Another type is when someone is also sitting on the horse, so the skier pulls themselves along. The latter method is used more for competitions, in which case, they often place teasers on the track.

In the equestrian version, competitions are organized in the USA and Europe, mainly in Norway, Poland, Switzerland, Russia, and Finland. Find the full competition calendar and odds at 22Bet Sportsbook! You can try the hobby or amateur version at many ski resorts. For example, they organize tours throughout the season at the El Colorado stable near the Les Arcs ski resort in France. It is also possible to try skijoring next to the ski resort of Rogla in Slovenia.

Snow rafting requires almost no new equipment. The rafting boat crew hops into the boat and races down the slope. Be careful, because the boat is difficult to control in the snow! You can only practice this sport off-track, on an obstacle-free, not-too-steep slope with a properly trained guide. In many ski resorts, you can go snow rafting, where the boat is guided by the edges of the track. So the only job those who sit inside have is to hold on tight and be careful not to fall out.

Another, a rather rare method of downhill skiing is ski foxing, recommended only for the most daring people. A seat, back, and armrests are attached to a ski that is bent in a semicircle. The skier can race downhill with their feet forward, and, like on a snow bike, short skis are attached to the feet. They can only take a turn by leaning with their whole bodies almost to the ground. If these are not crazy enough for you, check out our article about the weirdest winter sports you never heard about!

Airboard

The airboard is an inflatable sled “mattress” about one meter long and thirty centimeters high, made of a resistant, well-sliding material. Handholds on the top help to stay on while sliding down, especially over bumps and teasers, and to carry it back to the top of the slope. The underside is designed to keep the airboard in the right direction on the snow. Those who are brave enough to try it can control the board by shifting the body weight left and right. The conditions of using an airboard are similar to snow rafting.

Fun Alternative Winter Sports

We hear little or nothing about winter sports for the disabled, even though there are sports and competition opportunities for snow lovers. One of them is the mono-ski or ski-bob. The special seating of the mono-ski is attached to a ski with a hydraulic spring, which offers the option of skiing for people who cannot use their legs.

This structure replaces the ski boot, leg, knee, and thigh. So, the traditional technique of skiing is available with mono skiing. The mono-ski is compatible with every ski lift. In this way, skiers can access and use any track practically anywhere.

Just for Fun

We also added a winter sport that does not need snow to our list, just for fun, but how can you ski without snow? French freestyle skier Candide Thovex has gained immense popularity and fans worldwide in recent years with his spectacular videos. The good news is that he can’t run out of extreme ideas and breathtaking stunts. A few years ago, he released a short film called Quattro 2, where he also proves that he has absolutely no problem sliding down the craziest places without snow.

One of the most popular skiers in history slides on his skis in the desert, on rock faces, in volcanic ash, on hillsides, on the Great Wall of China, and even on the water while showing a series of incredible stunts. Check out the captivating short film at online gambling sites in the UK! Candide Thovex started learning to ski in the French Alps at two and a half years old.

At the age of four, he was already building small ski ramps behind their house. At the age of five, he joined the local ski team. He was fourteen when he won the French National Junior Championship for the first time. Around the world, millions of people are curious about his videos showing his freestyle skiing skills, and he has won countless awards and recognitions.
