GamingZion No Longer Features Blue Square

The sale of its internet sports betting arm Blue Square, means that UK-based gaming and leisure company Rank Group has narrowed the focus of its operations, to concentrate more closely on land-based casinos and the popular Mecca Bingo brand.

Rank has been considering clearing its portfolio of Blue for over a year, since the government announced plans to change British gambling laws and introduce a point of consumption tax.

Not being able to turn the subsidiary into a major competitor among the online sportsbooks in the UK, as well as the failure to turn a profit gave further reasons for Rank to jettison Blue Square.

Although Blue also featured among the online casinos in the UK, this revenue did not turn the company into a moneymaker either.

GamingZion is not entirely confident that Blue’s situation has been resolved in its entirety, so the sportsbook and casino site will no longer be featured on GamingZion.com for the time being, in order to ensure that readers are referred only to the highest quality online gambling destinations.

At the same time, it is fully possible that the new management will implement some convincing, positive changes, at which time it will be appropriate and desirable to re-evaluate this decision.
