Over time, they lengthened the route and started to include riders from all over the world. Corsa Rossa – The awaited route
With the official unveiling of the route of the 104th Giro d’Italia, riders now know what to expect. The three-week-long cycling tour takes place, according to its name, around the Italian peninsula. The 21 stages’ landscape varies of course, including flat stages, intermediate stages and mountain stages. There will be two rest days, according to stage difficulty. The race is expected to last from May 8th till the 30th. Judges will measure the times between each stage to keep track of every stage winner. Teams and starts of the 2021 Giro d’Italia
There are several countries’ teams that will participate. 23 teams have recieved an invitation to take part, with 8 riders each. The Columbian won the Tour de France in 2019, however, his back complained forced him to abandon the defence of his Tour de France title. He has been preparing relentlessly and decided to skip this year’s Tour de France, to fully dedicate himself to the Italian race.
