One of the men arrested on suspicion of murdering Kim Jong-nam is reported to have run an illegal North Korean gambling website.
The news of Kim Jong-nam’s assassination has been reverberating throughout the news lately, and some interesting new details are coming out about one of the men suspected of being involved in his murder. Ri Jong-choi, the alleged suspect, was reportedly responsible for operating an illegal North Korean gambling site that catered to foreigners.
North Korea has been struggling to bring in currency as of late. For years their biggest source of money was exporting coal into China, however the Chinese government recently halted this deal due to the possible involvement in Jong-nam’s murder.
With their coal distribution network halted, it seems likely that North Korea will begin focusing more on these types of illegal gambling sites, however none are as modern or sophisticated as the top online sportsbooks in the UK, and don’t offer as many games as Macau online poker sites.
North Korea special bets
An illegal North Korean gambling site operating is not entirely surprising, and PaddyPower is now allowing their members to make some bets on what this reclusive nation does next. We recently wrote about an available bet on who lasts longer in power between Kim Jong-un and Donald Trump, but that’s not the only wager available.
Members also have the chance to bet on who will be the DPRK’s leader at the end of 2017. Unsurprisingly, it’s Kim Jong-un who enters as the massive betting favorite with odds of 1/7. Some other betting options include Kim Jong-chul at 15/2, Kim Sul-song at 11/1, and Kim Yo-jong at 11/1.
