The merger of Ladbrokes and Gala Coral, the second and third biggest betting companies in the UK, was subject to selling 350-400 shops. On the 15th of October, Ladbrokes announced that together with Gala Coral they’ve agreed to sell 359 betting shops to Betfred and Stan James.
According to UK gambling news, Ladbrokes and Coral agreed to sell 350-400 betting shops to Betfred and Stan James to comply with the requirements set by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA). The CMA will now decide if it will approve the Merger.
“The sale of these shops will clear the last significant hurdle to delivering on the merger with Coral and paves the way for our focus on completion and quickly delivering on the opportunities the merger offers,” said Jim Mullen, chief executive of Ladbrokes.
