Most forms of gambling are legal and regulated in Niger. Much of Niger’s population is Muslim, and therefore does not gamble, however the rest of the population is free to wager their money in a variety of ways. There is only one casino in the country called the Hotel Gaweye. This casino is located in the nation’s capital of Niamey. Niger operates a national lottery called the Loterie Nationale du Niger that has run since 1993. There are many land-based lotto shops around the country that people can purchase lottery tickets in.
