Gambling in the Comoros

The Comoros is a small archipelago off the eastern coast of Africa. After gaining independence in 1975, the country experienced a number of attempted coups and political instability has become commonplace.

Gambling in the Comoros is legal, but only inside of a licensed gambling establishment. Obtaining a license to operate a gambling establishment requires a one-time fee of $20,000. There are known to be at least two land-based licensed casinos inside the Comoros, but it’s possible that others exist without much information available. Both of these casinos offer a wide range of slot machines and table games.

Sports betting is also legal inside the Comoros, but only through a licensed sportsbook. It is unclear whether either of the two casinos in the Comoros offer any kind of sports betting.

Although the lottery is legal in the Comoros, the country does not currently have a national lottery in place. A number of lotto games are said to be offered at the casinos here.

Online Gambling in the Comoros

The Comoros is one of the few African countries where online gambling is both legal and regulated by the government. This began in 1999, when the Comoros passed the Computer Gambling Licensing Act on the island of Anjouan.

Internet gambling sites in the Comoros need to be licensed by the government in order to legally operate. Once an online gambling company has paid the licensing fee, they can operate any number of gambling sites.

There are at least two internet gambling sites inside the Comoros. One is called Slotland, which also offers a mobile platform, and the other is called Win a Day Casino.
