Gambling in the Democratic Republic of the Congo
Almost all forms of gambling are legal and regulated in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The first gambling laws were established in 2005, and since then a few changes have been made, but the basic premise remains the same.
Gambling establishments must obtain a license from the DR Congo government before they can operate. They must also pay annual taxes and report their income.
The gambling laws in the Democratic Republic of the Congo are mostly focused on games of chance such as sports betting, slot machines, and lottery. There are currently two casinos in the country, as well as a national lottery.
Online Gambling in the Democratic Republic of the Congo
Online gambling has not been mentioned in any of the Democratic Republic of the Congo’s gambling laws. The country has extremely low internet use at just around 2.2%.
There are currently no online gambling sites operating from within the Congo, but a number of foreign gambling websites will accept players from here.
