10 Year Taiwan Deal for Intralot

Intralot is all set to become the sole betting partner in Taiwan for the next 10 years, after signing a deal with the Taiwan Sports Lottery Corporation (TSLC). So, between 2014 and 2023, anyone looking to bet on sports in Taiwan will be using software provided by Greek company Intralot. The deal was originally announced back in September, but has only now been confirmed.

The partnership will provide TSLC with operational support services for their sports betting operations, as the company provides 1,200 retail based betting terminals across the country. The services that Intralot will provide are product customization, content management, program and odds compilation, bet acceptance and risk management, and training, as well as marketing and consulting services.

This piece of gambling news is no real surprise, however, due to the close links between Intralot and the Taiwanese gambling industry. The company is a major shareholder in Taiwanese joint venture LotRich Information, and also has ties with ChinaTrust Commercial Bank.

TSLC CEO, Ted Lin, commented: “Taiwan Sports Lottery Company has chosen Intralot as the betting services partner taking into consideration Intralot’s global practices in this field and the existing long-term relationship with Taiwan Lottery Company and Chinatrust commercial bank.”

Marios Mitromaras, Intralot’s general manager of Asia, added: “We are very satisfied with our business course in Taiwan. Our third contract in the country within six months is the result of our long-term investment and the commitment of our local team.”

Taiwanese gambling laws prevent the operation of online gambling in the country, so this is a big deal for Intralot. The company will be providing services to the entire sports betting market in the country. The company will be providing all the necessary hardware to run the service, however, including their Photon and LOTOS Horizon Multimedia Controllers betting terminals.
