Unlike Formula 1, in this competition many drivers can actually win the title, making it a much more exciting series. If we look at the 2020 Formula E betting odds, we can find three drivers with very similar ones but the rest of the grid are not far from them as well.  Formula E, the alternative series to Formula 1, which only uses electric cars have been running since 2011. In the new season, 12 teams with two drivers in every team will compete. Jean-Eric Vergne is the reigning champion, he’s won the championship for the second time, and will aim for his third one.  He is the favorite to win again with 5.45 odds at 1xBet. But the French will have huge competition from the other drivers.

The 2020 Formula E betting odds predict Vergne’s victory again

Jean-Eric Vergne was also competing in Formula 1 between 2012 and 2014 for the Toro Rosso team, but with less success. After though he’s started to race in the new championship, which is getting more and more famous all around the world with the fans. It’s not just more eco-friendly, but also brings tight races, where any team can win. Just check our review about last season to prove this. The races are also organized in city center street circuits, like the one in Monaco. There will be races in South America, the United States, Europe, and Asia. The season starts this weekend and will end on the 26th of July in London, where the first indoor/outdoor track will host the race.

So back to Vergne, he won three races last year and finished 17 points ahead of second-place Sebastien Buemi. Vergne managed to defend his title from 2018 and also helped his Chinese team, Techeetah to win the team’s championship. Seems like Formula E is the best place for him, though he tried himself in the 24 hours of Le Mans race and in the FIA World Endurance Championship as well.

Other drivers will also fight for the title

Online sportsbooks in France are mentioning four more drivers as Vergne’s biggest rivals. The first one is Sam Bird, a British driver racing for Envision Virgin Racing. He only finished ninth last year, even though he won a race and had another podium finish. The year before he was third in the overall standing, and he had similar results in the previous years as well. His odds now to become champion is 6.50.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k-b3yOY0vLk Another driver who can actually keep the pressure on Vergne is his new teammate, Antonio Felix da Costa. The Portuguese has also been driving in different categories from the Formula Renault series to the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters and joined Formula E in 2014. He reached his best result here last season, finishing sixth with his former team, BMW I Andretti Motorsport. Now he will be racing for the world champion team Techeetah, which explains his odds of 7.00.

Last year’s top finishers can also win this year

Other drivers mentioned as favorites in the 2020 Formula E betting odds are Sebastien Buemi and Lucas di Grassi, who finished on the podium last season behind Vergne. Buemi has also competed for Toro Rosso in Formula 1 a few years earlier than Vergne, reaching similar results. You can read more about the end of the 2019 Formula 1 season in our article. Buemi became the World Endurance Champion in 2014 and 2019 and won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2018.  He has also won the Formula E Championship in the 2014-15 season. The Swiss will be a tough competition of Vergne, with similar experiences and results, online gambling sites in France are offering him 7.50 odds to win.  Finally, we have a Brasilian driver, Lucas di Grassi who is also a former Formula E Champion. What's more, he was also racing in Formula 1 as a driver of Virgin Racing, but just for one season.  Probably only the hardest fans remember him, as he hasn’t finished many races due to technical or driving issues. But in other competitions he was much more successful, he has been driving for Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler since he joined Formula E in 2014. His odds are 8.50 at 1xBet.
