  • 2021 MotoGP San Marino Grand Prix is held this weekend, 19th of September
  • Only five races are left from this season
  • Fabio Quartararo still leads the championship ahead of Bagnaia and Mir
The 2021 MotoGP season continues this weekend with the San Marino GP at the Misano World Circuit in Rimini, Italy. Franco Morbidelli is the defending champion but he is not likely to defend his title due to his injury. The winner of the last race, Francesco Bagnaia can continue his great run just like the current overall leader, Fabio Quartararo. Both riders are mentioned in the biggest favorites by the 2021 MotoGP San Marino Grand Prix betting odds.

The MotoGP field arrives this weekend in Italy, at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli. The official name of the race is not short either, it’s called the San Marino and Rimini Riviera motorcycle Grand Prix. Despite its name, the event is held in Italy. But after already having an Italian Grand Prix at Mugello, this race got its name from nearby San Marino.  Marc Marquez has been the most successful rider here with 6 victories. While Franco Morbidelli is the defending champion. The Yamaha rider is set to return this weekend after his knee injury as a new teammate of Fabio Quartararo after his promotion to the factory team.

2021 MotoGP San Marino Grand Prix betting odds favor top overall riders

Last weekend Francesco Bagnaia finally got his first MotoGP win at the Aragon Grand Prix. The Ducati rider strengthened his second place ahead of Joan Mir with his victory. And he is the main challenger of the current leader, Fabio Quartararo. Even though the French rider is still 53 points ahead of him. But online sportsbooks in Italy offer the smallest odds, 2.965 for Bagnaia’s victory in their 2021 MotoGP San Marino Grand Prix betting odds. Which makes sense as Bagnaia was brilliant in the last race. He managed to keep behind the 6-time MotoGP champion Marc Marquez in the whole race.

If the Italian can keep his form, he can even fight for the world championship title in the last few races. But Fabio Quartararo has the biggest chance of winning the title after his massive lead in the table. The Yamaha rider didn’t have the best race last weekend and finished only in 8th place. But he can improve now at Misano where he was the runner-up two years ago. Now his odds to win his sixth race of the season are 3.50 on 22Bet.

Marquez and Mir in other top favorites

As we mentioned, Marc Marquez has been the most successful rider at the Misano circuit with his six victories so far. Following his latest performance, the multiple champions can get another win this weekend. Marquez has been struggling since his return this April and had to retire in four races. But in Aragon, he and his Honda motor were strong again. So he could fight neck-to-neck against Bagnaia for the first place. Even though Marquez couldn’t overtake the Italian, it was a promising sign ahead of this race. His odds to finish on the top of the podium now are 6.50.

Joan Mir is currently in third place in the overall standings, 57 points behind Quartararo. The Spanish rider finished third on home soil but he wasn’t satisfied with his result. He was starting from seventh place and had difficulties with overtaking. Now Mir is hoping that Suzuki can fix all the problems. So he can fight for the victory in Italy where he finished third last time. Online gambling sites in Italy offer the odds of 8.00 for his win now. While Bagnaia’s teammate, Jack Miller can also fight for his third win of the season. The Australian finished fifth last weekend even though he started from second place. But he can easily get a better result now in Ducati’s home race this weekend.
