No Liverpool manager since Gerard Houllier in 1999 has won his first derby, but Liverpool will hope to continue the form that saw them come back against Dortmund and convincingly beat Bournemouth.
Everton’s record this season is simply very bad for a team with players like Romelu Lukaku and Ross Barkley. They are in the bottom half of the table, and other than a 3-0 win at Stoke in February, the only teams they’ve beaten since September are the current bottom three.
Six of the last seven derbies have finished as draws, and Everton have the equal most draws in the league this season. Everton haven’t won at Anfield in 19 years, and if they do on Wednesday it would surprise online sportsbooks in the UK. We reckon one of the best bets on the Merseyside derby is simply “Liverpool to Win”.
Best bet: Liverpool to win @ 1.60 (3/5) at Bwin Sports.
Bet on Both Teams to score
While Everton have been poor, they do possess great offensive firepower. Romelu Lukaku is fourth top scorer in the league with 18 goals. Their biggest problem is defending, and Liverpool will hope to capitalise on that. Klopp has Liverpool playing an aggressive, attacking style, and Everton will hope to have chances on the counter, especially with Liverpool’s defence being their weak point. We reckon both teams will score.
Best Bet: Both Teams to Score @ 1.72 (18/25) at Bwin Sports.
Bet on there being a red card
There hasn’t been a sending off in the last 9 Merseyside derbies, an incredible run f fair play that will surely end sooner or later. Especially as Liverpool v Everton is actually the dirtiest Premier League fixture in history, with 9 more red cards in this game than any other.
Best Bet: At least one sending off @ 3.80 (14/5) at Bwin Sports
Bet on Lukaku to score first
As mentioned, Lukaku has been a regular scorer despite Everton’s poor form. He is rumoured to be a target for both Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund, which shows just how highly he is rated. He also has five goals in his last seven games against Liverpool. Bet on him to continue that form tonight.
Best Bet: Lukaku to score first @ 7.00 (6/1) at Bwin Sports.
Bet on Sturridge to Score 2 or more goals
A striker in even better form than Lukaku is Daniel Sturridge. He has scored four goals in his last five Premier League appearances, and after a long injury lay-off, looks sharper than ever. He should be able to cut through the Everton defence with ease. Bet on Sturridge to score at least twice.
Best Bet: Sturridge to score two or more goals @ 5.75 (19/4) at Bwin Sports.
