The drawing for the Champions League semi-finals 2017 will be held this Friday. Two of the participating teams are already known: both Madrid-teams will be there again.

Two of the 4 Champions League Quarter-Finals have been played tonight. Leicester City hosted Atletico Madrid in hopes of being capable of coming back from the 1-0 disadvantage they suffered in Madrid, while on the other hand, Real Madrid were waiting for Bayern Munich to walk into their trap which was the result of Real’s 1-2 victory in Munich. Online betting news in Spain expected great performances from all teams, let’s take a look at what happened, and let’s see how the Madrid-based teams qualified for Champions League semi-finals 2017.

Leicester City vs Atletico Madrid: 1-1

Atletico Madrid won the first game by 1-0 thanks to a controversial penalty. Antoinne Griezmann said thank you and scored, which ended up being a decisive goal which put Atletico in the Final Four and ended the miraculous history created by Leicester City. Unfortunately, Atletico’s qualification for Champions League semi-final 2017 was not in danger at all, not even for a second.

Of course the La Liga team were clear favourites at all online sportsbooks in Spain: their squad is far stronger than that of Leicester City and they started the match from a much better situation. And the eliminatory was basically decided in the 26th minute of the second leg: Saúl scored a goal which made Atletico lead by 2-0 on aggregation and Leicester needed 3 more goals to qualify.

However, last season’s Premier League champions only managed to score once: who other than Jamie Vardy equalized in the 61th minute. But that was it, Leicester City were left without a real chance to make it to the Champions League semi-finals 2017. Diego Simeone’s men will be there again, and they hope to reach the final for the third time in 4 years.

Real Madrid vs Bayern Munich 1-2 (4-2)

Real Madrid, just like their city rivals, also managed to get a 1 goal advantage ahead of the second leg: they won 1-2 in Allianz Arena, against all odds and Champions League betting predictions by online sportsbooks. Avoiding loss instantly would have put Real Madrid in the next round. However, they failed to do so.

The first half was full of chances for Real Madrid: Kroos and Cristiano Ronaldo both had 2-3 clear cut chances each. Either of them could have easily decided the encounter in 45 minutes at Estadio Santiago Bernabéu. However, they failed to score and so the half time result was 0-0. Which was, in fact, a perfect result for Zidane’s men.

Second half full of drama

Then came the second half. Real Madrid started better, but everything turned around thanks to a penalty given to Bayern Munich. Lewandowski scored. 0-1 for Bayern Munich but Real Madrid are still in Champions League semi-finals 2017 if the match ends here. But the match did not end here.

Ronaldo equalized in the 76th minute only for Ramos to score a ridiculously unfortunate own goal 2 minutes later. Hungarian referee Viktor Kassai fails to give a penalty to Real Madrid but sends off Arturo Vidal with a second yellow card, which was quite controversial as well. Real Madrid trashed one-man-down Bayern Munich on extra time: Ronaldo scored two more in the next 30 minutes and Asensio also put the ball into the net once.

Now the Rojiblancos and Los Blancos are waiting for the Champions League Semi-Finals Drawing which is due this Friday. Which other teams do you think will qualify? Dortmund or Monaco? Barca or Juve?
