Premier League set for a tussle between Chelsea and Manchester City, as they remain the only two realistic teams able of capturing the title.

This season’s Premier League has already proven to be quite a show for fans and football enthusiasts alike, with many impressive displays occurring almost every week. Chelsea has been invigorated this year and has a firm grip on the title race, while Manchester City is trying to replicate its success that saw them lift the trophy last season.

Up until now rest of the big clubs have disappointed with their current standings, as neither Arsenal nor Liverpool have managed to assert themselves. Manchester United is still trying to adapt to life without Alex Ferguson, as newly appointed manager Louis van Gaal has found it a difficult task to bring the Red Devils to their former glory.

Two blue clubs will fight it out for the title

• Chelsea sits on top of the PL with 19 pts

• Man City are second with 14 pts

• Chelsea favorites for the title 1.50 (1/2)

• Manchester United face Chelsea on 26th October

Chelsea’s current momentum doesn’t seem to be fading. Up until now they have won all of their games except suffering a humbling draw against title opponents Man City. They remain undefeated in the league with the biggest goal difference of 14. Their performance echoes the success that Arsenal’s Invincibles enjoyed during the 2003-2004 season.

Their next test comes against Crystal Palace away, where once again they have been primed to relish and continue their astonishing run. Mobile betting provider Bet365 gives chances of 1.33 (1/3) for Chelsea to win, while punters might enjoy to wager more on over 2.5 Goals, 1.75 (3/4), given the better odds.

City’s next battle lies against Tottenham at home, where the Spurs aren’t viewed as having much of a chance. Bet365 has assigned favorite odds of 1.44 (4.9), while Tottenham has been dealt chances of 6.50 (11/2). Arsenal and Liverpool sit in 8th and 9th place respectively tied with 10 points, however now they are not viewed as serious contenders for the title.

Manchester United will play against West Brom away on the 20th, where the outcome is far from predictable. Although the odds 1.67 (4/6) favor The Red Devils, the team is still in a transitional phase. After visiting West Brom, United will host Chelsea on 26th October. The odds for that encounter are almost evenly split, United 2.60 (8/5) and Chelsea 2.63 (13/8).

While Manchester City boasts a formidable squad and has immense depth, Chelsea are still better covered in their areas. For this reason, online sportsbooks in the UK believe that the London club will probably be crowned champions 1.50 (1/2), while City will have to settle with being second favorite 3.75 (11/4), as they aim to defend the Premier League title.

Small clubs have so far caused a sit in the Premier League

While Chelsea and Man City take up the first and second positions respectively in the Premier League, one club has managed to pull off a surprise. Normally the biggest clubs take up all the front row seats, however Southampton has defied all odds and currently enjoys the third place with 13 points, one behind second placed Man City.

Southampton has sold off its most important players during the summer transfer window, but despite that they were able to stay strong under the guidance of Dutch legend Ronald Koeman. The Saints next face Sunderland at home (18th October) where they have been earmarked as the clear favorite for that match 1.53 (8/15), per Bet365.

Some football critics have expressed their views that Southampton won’t be able to continue their success indefinitely and their run will come to end eventually. Considering the fact that it is still early in the season, things may change as time progresses as other bigger teams may start pulling in on the title race.

Another team that has surprised many this season is Swansea City. They currently sit in fifth place and are tied on points with Manchester United at 11, the only difference is that van Gaal’s men have a better goal difference. Their next destination is visit to Stoke City (19th October) where the odds are not that divided for either side.

Perhaps the best option would be to place a wager on a draw 3.20 (8/15), as Stoke will be playing at home and Swansea don’t have the most convincing record when playing away. Betting on the Double Chance market could also prove lucrative. The odds for “Stoke or Draw” (1X) stand at 1.42 (21/50), an event that may be likely, according to gambling news.
