Acting upon receiving a tip-off, Hubli-Dharwad authorities stormed the premises of a lodge where they uncovered an illegal online cricket betting operation.

The racket is believed to be linked to a more widespread network that operates on a national level. According to gambling news, police acted swiftly and arrested two bookies. One man has been identified as Parashuram Shivaji Savanth, a local electrician from Hubli, while the other is called Krishna Govind Haibatti, a student from Hubli taluk.

Hubli-Dharwad Police Commissioner Ravindra Prasad highlighted that the suburban police decided to raid Aditya Lodge at Kittur Chennamma Circle after receiving a tip from an anonymous source. It is highly likely that they were taking bets for the final of the Champions League T20 cricket game between KolKota Knights Riders and Chennai Super Kings.

Bookies had a developed system on which they operated

The operations that the bookies organized involved them taking a commission and certain fees from other sub-bookies for relaying the mobile betting services for clients.. The Police Commissioner also indicated that the case has not developed yet as the authorities are still trying to process all of the relevant information.

“The case is still in the investigation level and divulging any more information may hamper the probe. The racket’s tentacles are wide enough to reach Delhi. It seems the network is spread all over the country involving crores of rupees.”
