A crime drama about the first Sicilian mafia informant, Tommaso Buscetta, The Traitor received the most, 18 nominations in different categories. Online gambling sites in Italy are predicting its win in the Best Film category, with the odds of 1.445. The film competed at the 2019 Cannes Festival and for the Best International Film Award at the Oscars. Though it hasn’t won any awards at international festivals, it can be a winner in Italy.

Its topic is always a success, as people are still interested in the lives of mafia members. The director of the film, Marco Bellocchio is also a favorite to win the Best Director award with the odds of 1.30. The 80-year-old director has already been making films about serious and controversial topics. Like the Red Brigades and kidnapping of Aldo Moro or euthanasia. With this latest film, he wants to show a new picture of the mafia and its former man. A man who tried to take it down with the help of law.
