The Connor McDavid injury hasn’t only harmed the rookie, but his team the Edmonton Oilers’ shot at the Stanley Cup as well.

In major Canadian gambling news, the 18-year-old rookie and rising star fractured his left clavicle on Tuesday in a 4-2 win against the Philadelphia Flyers. He was scheduled for surgery Wednesday. His broken collarbone will take him out of the game for months, if not for the rest of the 2015/16 NHL season.

Oilers general manager Peter Chiarelli mourned the Connor McDavid injury along with sports and gambling fans, but believes his team will “get by it”. In a statement he said that: “What’s important is just to move forward. We’re going to be missing him for a while and we have good players…Teams suffer catastrophic injuries and teams figure it out. It’s something that the team, the guys, have to step up. They will miss Connor, but he will be back.”

The talented youngster was featured in GamingZion’s “Top 2015/16 NHL Rookies You Can Bet On This Season”. Do you think that the Connor McDavid injury will harm the Oilers’ odds of winning the Stanley Cup, or do you believe Chiarelli and think they’ll get by without their star player?
