In order to become a successful football club, prestige and previous glory is not the only approach.

Football clubs are full of history as they have been established long long time ago, and some teams arose to become one of the best of all by winning many titles and great rewards.
• Chelsea's success is due to Abramovich
• Man City are still underdogs in the Champions League
• PSG are improving quite well
However, those clubs who has not achieved to reach so many trophies in the past, still has an opportunity to get in the race of the best football teams.

Whenever a billionaire football enthusiast buys a club, it always gets huge attention in the media and high expectations will follow them. We will try to introduce some of these clubs, who have been bought by rich people in recent times and will analyse their performances.

Chelsea

Chelsea are pioneers in this sense within the football world. They have never really been among the top clubs in Europe, and, to be honest, they have not even been among the best teams even in England. They were a stable mid-table team, who reached one of the UEFA Cup qualification places from time to time.

According to UK gambling news, Chelsea's success came with Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich, who has purchased the team in the June of 2003. He invested a lot of money into the English clubs budget which resulted in the London-based team signing players with better reputations than before.

Ever since that time, the British club signed incredible football players, such as John Terry, Frank Lampard or Didier Drogba, in addition they had managers like José Mourinho and Carlo Ancelotti. They are main candidates in the Premier League every year – they are the reigning champion – and they are among the first answer, when the question “Who will win the Champions League this year?” arises.

Manchester City

Another English club, Manchester City, has a similar story to that of their London-based predeccessor, Chelsea. City used to be a mid-table team, just like Chelsea, they were even in the second division for many years before finally finding their place in the Premier League again.

City was purchased by Abu Dhabi United Group in 2008 and has improved a lot as a football team ever since. Their first great capture was the signature of Robinho from Real Madrid, but they bought players like David Silva, Yaya Touré and Sergio Agüero. In addition, former Real Madrid manager Manuel Pellegrini is their team boss now.

They have won the Premier League twice ever since the new deal with the Abu Dhabi United Group has been made. However, mobile betting sites do not see the Manchester based side among the top favourites for the Champions League as they have been eliminated in the Round of 16 after losing both legs against eventual winner FC Barcelona.

Paris Saint-Germain

Despite his difficult personality, Ibrahimovic turned out to be a great asset for the club

Paris Saint-Germain are mostly known for being the team who has been the first in Europe to discover the incredible talent that has been hidden (not so well hidden, really!) in Ronaldinho. The Parisian side was the first European club of the Brazilian legend, who played in France for 2 years before joining Barcelona.

However, they have not been very successful in France, not to mention the European tournaments! Olympique Lyon was dominating French football for many years before Quatar Sports Investment became the owner of the club and Nasser Al-Khelaifi became the president of the team in 2011.

They have had managers like Carlo Ancelotti, who has started the great project of making PSG one of the best clubs in the world, and they signed players like David Beckham, Thiago Silva, David Luiz and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Paris Saint-Germain was eliminated in this year's Champions Leagee in the quarter-finals upon losing both clashes against Barcelona, but they knocked out Chelsea in the Round of 16. Moreover, they also won the Ligue 1 and the French Cup.

Anzhi Mahachkala

High-profile but over-the-peak stars like Eto’o couldn’t make Anzhi a factor in European football

Anzhi Mahachkala has been quite an unknown name in the European football world. They are a Russian team but they have not been key factor in the Champions League or in the UEFA Cup and Europa League. They have never won or finished at a memorable place in any of the continental tournaments.

In addition, their only successes are 2 Russian First Division triumphs, which they achieved in 1999 and 2009. They also reached the final of the Russian Cup in 2001 and in 2013, but they lost both of those games so they never won that title. Anzhi Mahachkala was purchased by Suleyman Kerimov in 2011, according to online gambling sites in Russia.

However, the billionaire businessman's plans did not work out so well. He signed high-profile players such as Samuel Eto'o or Roberto Carlos for example, and he acquired a great manager, Guud Hiddink. However, the Russian club failed to become a key factor in Russian football and they even relegated as they finished in the last spot. They just promoted back to the First Division so they will play there again from next year.
