Previous winners of EPT Main Events and season’s champions are expected to play each other at a special event in Spain

The first ever European Poker Tour Champion of Champions tournament will be held in Spain this year, after the Series Grand Final on May 13. The Gran Casino of Madrid has been chosen to host the event. The organizers will bring together at a freeroll table all EPT title holders since the first event in 2004.

Recent winners of all EPT stage tournaments including EPT Snowfest, held in Madrid, Berlin and San Remo will also participate. A total of 70 all-time champions of various EPT Main Events are expected to compete in this extraordinary tournament with a sole purpose of finding out who is the best of the best.

Poker in land-based casinos throughout Spain is in full compliance with Spanish gambling laws. Participants won't have any legal trouble playing in Madrid unless the FBI indicts Spain.

However, those wishing to play online poker in Spain can only do it at foreign-based sites that haven't been charged by the United States yet. Nevertheless, Spain's online gambling regulations are about to change, finally bringing an end to speculation and dispute. Under the new legislation, foreign gambling operators will be allowed to enter the Spanish market and compete on a level playing field.

As for the Champion of Champions tournament in Madrid, the top 4 players will receive packages worth €50,000, €25,000, €15,000 and €10,000 respectively allowing them to partake in the next season’s Main Event of their choice.

Among the poker professionals invited to this exclusive event are Patrik Antonius, Liv Boeree, Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier and many more.
